^ to be fair if it made slowcue Peter Ebdon retire I'd be all for shot clocks.
Another rubbish decision to make the Shootout tournament a ranking one
5 second shot clock at the Crucible.
That would be fun
.
Peter Ebdon a bloody sight more likeable than Shaun Murphy.
As snookered says, after Mark Selby's Crucible antics, a shot clock would cause pretty drastic results
Peter Ebdon came across as a decent chap when he covered for the hospitalised Dennis Taylor during this year's world championships. It made a change from hearing about the 1985 final every five minutes.
This years tournament starts on Thursday with coverage on ITV4.
does it even deserve to be classed as a ranking tournament?
Starts on ITV4 at lunchtime from Las Veg-, er, sorry, Watford

Bet Barry Hearn wishes it could be staged in Las Vegas
The tournament does give some lesser lights in the game some TV exposure albeit for very short time slots.
The experience will hopefully do the younger players some good.
The big names tend not to win the event . The one frame format, shot clock and ball in hand penalty for fouls is interesting and makes for exciting viewing. Whether it should be a ranking event is a different story altogether.
Those who wonder about characters in Snooker should have heard Clive Everton cracking up at commentating on poor old Dechawat Poomjaeng
It's a gripping format, but I'm not sure sitting through 16 or 24 matches in a row would not drive the audience potty (little wonder they've been amusing themselves shouting out, or otherwise making a general chattering racket at times).
