Here you can post your recommendations for good tv series...

1)Breaking Bad, the life and times of walt and jessie, one a high school professor recently diagnosed with cancer, the other a drop out.
because of his diagnosis, walt decides in the time he has left, he will provide for his families future. so he starts cooking crystal meth with the help of his under achieving drug dealing ex_pupil jesse.
this is a dark tale, well written with 3 series under its belt and soon to start a fourth... 8/10

2)weeds a suburban housewife left to fend for herself after the death of her husband. she decides the only way she can make ends meet, is to sell weed to her friends and neighbors. within a short while she grows her empire through various means, but seems clueless to the chaos and mayhem such a life can bring...
again well written, often funny sometimes serious but almost always engrosing. 7/10 5 series so far and the 6th has just started.

feel free to recommend shows you like...
Gosh, where to start on a topic this broad? I watch lots and lots of TV. I would get nothing done today if I even attempted anything like a comprehensive answer.

So instead I'll pick one series that I'm all over at the moment, Friday Night Lights. It's a drama about members of a high school american football team and their families. I have no interest at all in american football, but the show is so well written, directed and acted that that's no obstacle.

I care about the characters in this show more than I care about most people in my own family Wink

@HEXIT - with you on Breaking Bad and Weeds.
1) 30 rock = a very well written satire on Saturday night live by the very funny tina fey, and anything with alec baldwin in is great anyway.

2) Prison break = sure it got a bit silly seasons 3 and 4 but season 1 was the best new series of any show for a decade.

3) How i met your mother = Barney stinson is better then you.

4) Big bang theory. = if you watch this for any reason what it for sheldon cooper, the awards jim parsons has won for playing him are fully deserved.

and am just getting into lie to me, the wire, and chuck.
The Wire- Each season of The Wire focuses on a different facet of the city of Baltimore. They are, in order: the illegal drug trade, the port system, the city government and bureaucracy, the school system, and the print news media. Might take a few episodes to get into but well worth sticking with. 9.5/10

Curb Your Enthusiasm- Brilliantly cringeworthy and i hope to some day grow up to be like Larry David 9/10

Dexter- By day he's a blood splatter pattern expert for the Miami Metro police department. But by night - he takes on an entirely different persona: serial killer. But Dexter isn't your average serial killer as he only kills people who fit a very prolific and precise "moral code. Love this show kinda lost it a bit in season 3 but still better than most tv shows and Michael C Hall is awesome 9/10
ill probably get slated for posting this but ill recomend rules of engagement on comedy central, its hilarious it stars the the guy who voices Joe in family guy. if you have sky anytime its on there for the next few days. and i sv to agree with the post above about dexter love that show, new series starts mid august.

oh and flight of the conchords !

k im done
Have to agree with HEX!T about Breaking Bad . I"ve seen the first three series and it is a top show. I would highly recommend getting series 1 & 2 on DVD ( Series 1, £8.99, 7 episodes, Series 2 has just come out, 13 episodes, £15.99, Play.com).
im also a long time fan of dexter, and was mortified by the ending of the last series.
big bang theory is great as is chuck, but thats mainly down to the lead hotties in em Wink
a couple i missed just because i wanted other opinions.
2 and a half men. 8/10
stargate universe 7/10 but got an 8/10 for the first few episodes. (yeah i know its nerdy but hey i like a balance).
For me has to be Supernatural, great acting, great story lines and you can pick up for the first three seasons for under a tenner each if you look about for them.
Also Damages is a good series to watch too Smile.
If you got a brain in your head and can can concentrate for more then 5 mins "the wire" shits over everything else on tv period
