The rules seem to be written in plain English. I'm not sure why anyone would need expert knowledge to understand them.

they dont give precise stuff which allowed and not allowed, so far i have seen that it is R18 adverts, while others are saying it is allowing R18 to be shown on tv.

Adverts are already being shown on TVX and the Adult channel which are the encrytped channels and they are not hardcore R18 channels, but their adverts are for website or hardcore phone lines. the babe channels all come under a shopping cert and that is why they arent encrypted.

So as far as i can tell from these rules nothing is going to change and that is why i would want clarification on what can and cant be allowed to be shown on TV.

Well maybe I'm thick, but I'm struggling to get my head around it too. From what I can gather, R18 material can be shown in adverts, but not in the actual programmes. How will that work, then?? Doesn't that mean that the adverts will automatically be making false cliams, by showing stuff that won't be allowed in the very programme they're advertising?

This post by aceman describes it clearly:

So it is a move forward. But if the normal babe channels remain unencrypted, then such advertising will still not be allowed on them.

So the thread title is more than a little misleading then?

Absolutely!

Worth reading this thread: http://www.babeshows.co.uk/showthread.ph...#pid133495

It details TVX receiving a fine for broadcasting the URL's to Hardcore websites.
It basically means, that channels such as TVX can advertise there hardcore website address on screen. BabeStation Extreme can advertise SexStation TV. Playboy can advertise SpiceXXX. BlueBird will be able to advertise it's R18 DVD's plus it's HardBlue web address.

But there will be no change at all in the basic programming, or the unencrypted channels.

Hope that makes it a little clearer.

What could be clearer ace? If R18 advertising is going to be allowed then so must R18 material because, to allow one without the other is nonsense. At least that is all one can infer from Ofcom's present stance. The handover to the ASA isn't absolute as I understand it, Ofcom retain control of broadcasting and, up until now, THEY have denied R18 advertising because their Code bans it along with R18-type material itself.

We will see of course. And you are absolutely correct in your staement. I just think it spells some further advancement is on the cards.

(we hope at least)

Well, Ofcom may have been accused of being guilty of many things, but having common sense is not one of them.

They have left the door ajar. We will just have to wait and see if they open it any further, or slam it shut again.
