If the user has disabled their 'Receive private messages from other users' option, then they won't receive a PM, even if one is 'sent' when giving a warning.
Hey Don Tingley,

If you wish for me to respond to your PM, then you might want to enable yours. Rolleyes
Well, all I'm going to say is, If you wish me to respond to all your requests PM's, then kindly enable yours.

I'm getting sick of wasting time typing out a responce, only to find out it can't be sent. So if you decide to disable your PM's, then don't bother sending any.
I think it's about time the PM system was modified in some way. Either to make the Moderators exempt from the disabled rule, to allow them still send messages to those who have them disabled. Or to set up a special notifications message system. Which only moderators can send them, but all members can recieve them, even if they have their PM's disabled.

Because having this thread to inform a person to enable his/her PM's, has about as much chance of working as finding a needle in a haystack. 99% of those that have them disabled will never view this thread, or even know it exists.

Agree. I don't see the logic in allowing a forum member to opt-out of receiving PM's from staff. How are you supposed to enforce forum policy and educate members on proper etiquette etc, if those members are allowed to block PM's from the people you entrust with running the board.

Another option may be that if a member chooses not to receive PM's, they also can't send them.

If you are getting a lot of them, you could always include this message in your signature

Please don't send me a PM expecting a reply if you have your PMs turned off, as I won't be able to respond.

Smile
Please turn your PM on "dontmess" so i can reply to you Smile
It doesn't look like dontmess reads this thread but Ill say it anyway:

"Oi dontmess, if you want a reply then turn yer fackin PMs on you muppet!"
jaii07 - please enable private messaging if you wish me to respond.

And to aceman65's comments above, I wholeheartedly agree. Frustration doesn't come close when you've carefully crafted a response to find it won't be going anywhere...
Hi just a reminder to all forum members to enable their Private message's, I am unable to return a PM to KRISB because you have this function disabled Cool
