People send private messages to other members of the forum. This is great and generates a true sense of being a member of this site.

However, I find it very frustrating that people email you and you can't reply as they've set their profile not to receive private messages.

It gets worse when a couple of days later they email you again to berate you for not replying to the first one.

So if you've sent someone something, please can you check your profile to ensure you can receive a reply. It's very annoying otherwise It's difficult to be helpful when you've typed a nice reply only to find it can't be sent due to the settings...

Alternatively, if you don't wish to do so, to answer your question...

To gain access to Alice's or any other group, you need to go to your User CP, scroll down the page to where it says Group Memberships, click on it and you will see Alice's name. Beside her name, you will see Join Group, again, click on this (giving a reason why you would like to join) and then click on Send Join Request. It can take a few hours.
