I searched but there didn't seem to be a boxing thread,so i thought i would start one.
And to start off i want to say Massive good luck to Michael Sprott in his fight against Audley Harrison tonight, live on SKY SPORTS 1 at 10PM,they should have fought in prizefighters a while back but Sprott pulled out after his sister tragically died, last time they fought Sprott knocked Harrison clean out with a crazy left.(see below) Harrison does have a good punch and could be a very good boxer but he is such a lazy fighter and to be honest i for one can no longer be bothered to wait for him to get his head together so come on Michael Sprott.
One of the best fights I've ever seen was the one between Nigel Benn and Gerald McClellan. Due to the severe disabilities suffered by McClellan after the fight it seems to have been wiped from the collective conciousness.
Saying that I did feel uneasy about the enjoyment I'd got when the extent of McClellan's injuries became apparent.
Noooooo, i'm gutted for Michael Sprott he was clearly winning the fight but fair play to Audley Harrison that was a world class punch, let's hope he gets that shoulder fixed and gets some fire in his belly and starts to use the power he has instead of just jabbing and holding and spoiling his way to points wins all the time.
More boxing on Sky Sports 1 tonight or more precisely tomorrow morning at 2.30AM Andre Berto v Carlos Quintana repeated on Sky Sports 2 tomorrow at 9.30AM and again on Sky Sports 3 at 2.30PM and yet again on Sky Sports 2 at 9.pm.
Plus,if like me you didn't pay for it,before the 3rd repeat of the Berto/Quintana fight,a chance to see David Haye v John Ruiz which is at 7PM Sky Sports 2 on Sunday.
Sky should be giving me commission for all this.
I like Berto. Good powerful boxer!Remember seeing him in some of the big fight undercards a few years back... He should soon get a crack at some of the top guys in the division.
The Berto/Quintana fight was an ugly affair,a good finish by Berto in the end but i think the ref could have stepped in a little sooner. The undercard fights were good as well the first two were frantic the third one not so much as it went the distance,i should have made a note of the fighters as i can't remember their names now,i do remember the punch that finished the first fight though,a sickening left hook to the body.
