I think that it is common practice for all Thai businesses to make contributions to the local police. If they were the Mafia it would be known as 'protection money' -- but it is not the Mafia -- LOL

Vernny - I like somebody who understands the concept of 'compensating for their trouble' as they say in Thailand when discussing the Police and the Mafia - "Same Same".

To be honest Thailand is a developing country, and the Police force's seems to be a bit of an optional extra to wind up the locals. They are very low paid and on the whole do a good job of basic law enforcement. They just haven't quiet got some of the principles quiet right yet, such a innocent until proven guilty. That said they are FAR FAR FAR better than the Chinese police who don't even seem to understand what law enforcement is and everybody is Guilty.

Anyway, enough of my ranting on this forum for a while. Ill do my best to listen to you and where practical (and possible) change things.

Pattaya is much seedier and dirtier than 30 years ago -- and the beach kids queue up to flog u anything including blue tablets of dubious origin !

Been twice a year for the last ten years, in that time it's got less seedier if anything!
New expensive malls and big hotels/condos catering for more families than before.
Still great fun though and those wee pills do aid the cause
