Enjoyable series opener, a great job fusing classic Star Trek with a fresh new vibe. Better than I dare say the J. J. Abrams films tried to do. Anson Mount was good showing a Pike weighed down by his future. A couple of unexpected cast appearances including the previous captain of the Enterprise (plus an interesting red herring).

Oh and the Capitol riots are now part of Trek history lol

The J.J Abrams movies weren’t totally allowed to be totally like classic Star Trek it’s all to do Viacom and Paramount and there was two different Star Trek licenses now they have merged back it’s no longer all tho the J.J films will stick to its timeline. It’s the reason why now your seeing more Star Trek stuff with the animated shows, movies and new tv shows next ones up Section 31 and Star Trek Academy.

Good character development of several characters, especially Number One and Dr M'Benga. Best episode so far

The Illyrian‘s have been Star Trek before, they appeared in Enterprise Ep 19 “Damage” Season 3 due to the damage to the NX Enterprise Archer was forced to steal a warp coil from a Illyrian ship which ended up leaving then stranded for years.

Strange New Worlds Episode 4 “Memento Mori”

Definite TOS 'Balance of Terror' vibes on this one, nicely done. And I think the first appearance of the shuttlecraft Galileo
