Harrington suggesting the Koepka-deChambeau rivalry might work in the US favour if they handle it well, unlike the hilarity we used to get with Woods & Mickelson.

^^ At the time, Tiger & Phil - The Thrill Mickelson were arguably the best 2 players in the world, but rival, & very different characters, definitely not friends, & should never have been paired together.
I doubt that Stricker will even be able to get Bryson & Koepka to play together, even if he thinks it's for the better of the the team. It's bordering on hatred from Koepka, towards Bryson, Not healthy for a team environment.
There's been some stuff from former captain Azinger, questioning Koepka's commitment to the Ryder Cup, & also his fitness. Implying that it's Bryson or Koepka for the team to be successful.

The Morning Foursomes, which are usually a strength of Europe, went the way of the USA 3 -1. The only success for Eorope being the all Spanish pairing of Rahm & Garcia who took down Spieth & Thomas.
Both captains have made changes for the afternoon Fourballs, allowing all 12 player at least one game on day 1. A slight surprise is that all the successful pairings have been split up.
Condition are much tougher, with the wind up, this course is really showing it's teeth. The scoring had been unusually low for the Foursome matches.

Thank god I never put a bet on with Skybet they had Europe down to win morning foursomes

A chastening day for Europe.
Missed putts a plenty and the US have a 6-2 lead at the end of day one.

The margin of victory was closer in the afternoon Fourball matches, but the result was the same, 3-1 to USA. I do wonder what affect the crowd is having, or lack of a crowd in the case of Europe. you expect the majority of the noise to come from the home team, but apart from a handful that have somehow got around the travelling restrictions, silence is all that greets a good shot, or holed put from Europe.
Rory has found the lack of crowds difficult in regular & Major Tournaments throughout the pandemic, & this has been magnified at the Ryder Cup. He is not at the races, (not on his own in that regard) & Harrington has to make a big call & leave him out, at least in the morning Foursomes on Day 2. This is a player who would be expected to play all 5 matches.
Make no excuse, the bottom line is that Europe have been outplayed. I still expect them to mount some sort of a fightback, but a six point deficit is huge.

Very Huge deficit.
It is worth noting, that in the last 6 Ryder Cups Europe has come from behind to win in four of them after losing the opening day sessions.

The singles is normally where the U.S excel!! It is what they play most!! That being the case, Europe may be screwed already, but definitely if they dont win one of the foursomes/fourballs sessions, and at the very least, tie the other!!

Overall, the Sky/US hyperbole and hysteria is sick inducing!! Really?? are we watching such a different beast now than was the caee with the Solheim?? Aside from the afore mentioned??

OH. and apparently Rory is almost solely responsible for losing his matches and winning zero points! Again the hype that surrounds this guy is ridiculous. He has been playing like a drain for a long time now (with few if any exceptions)
