another 1 for me would be the 1984 los angelas olympics. not even a teenager at the time but it was a great olympic games which i remember vividly, stopping up till all hours. too many amazing moments to put on video. obviously alot of countries pulled out led by the soviet boycott. certain highlights included steve redgraves first olympic gold medal, mary decker and zola budd controversy where decker was the home town girl and fave to win gold, when she fell when herself and budd collided with each other and she totally slaughtered budd in the press, and interviews years after she still does, mardy bitch! daley thompson defending his olympic decathlon title, probably the greatest all round athlete thats ever lived. the star of the games was carl lewis with his 4 gold medals, 100 metres, 200 metres, long jump and the 4 x 100 metres relay at his home olympics, what a legend! the legend who is michael jordan also won the gold medal with his usa basketball team.

On the subject of Athletics, this moment featuring Jonathan Edwards in the Triple Jump at the 1995 Athletics's World Champs blew me away and sent a shiver through me while I watched on TV. Not because it was a (rare) British success, not because of the event, but simply because of the extent to which he obliterated the previous world record. Twice. A phenomenal achievement and no one's come close to his world record in the 15 years since.

deja vu skate. it was one of the first ones posted but as you said it was a phenomenal achievement and no one has come close to it since. and if you remember skate he also jumped 18 43 as well that same year but wind speed was above legal limit. glad you remember skate, i think its a record that will stand for my lifetime.

1984 winter olympics in sarajevo, i really didnt wanna put this one on cos we all can't fucking stand dancing on ice, but they are british and it was sporting greatness so i think its only fair to put it on. lets not forget those perfect 6.0's

dont forget cantona's pathetic attempt at a kung fu kick lol. i dont condone that at all BUT he did something what most sportsmen would like to do who get verbally abused, but probably they have got alot more sense than what cantona had.

boring snooker. dennis taylor trailing 8-0 to steve davis after the first session of the 1985 world snooker final, but came back to win 18-17 and it went down to the final black in the final frame. a record 18 and a half million people watched it live on bbc2 and its still a record now for that channel.

even as an irishman, that pissed me off a tad but the other goal showed the other side of the man, the genius side!

he seemed to run forever. i remember shouting at the tv 'SOMEBODY JUST KICK THE BASTARD!' but, alas, they couldn't be arsed and the rest is history!
