Some massage parlour customers would use sex-chatlines as an alternative, but many would not even consider it. And visa versa.

from my experience with 964 when it was 10p/min, it seemed to change from a sex channel to one for lonely older men just looking for a long chat. and it was almost impossible to get through because these guys would just stay on the line forever telling their stories.
