2.1 The Art of the Yellow River
To my surprise, Alastair Sooke is back (whenever this was made), this time looking at a waterfall, visiting an archaeo-dig much like any other, then partaking in the lantern festival.
CGT II
2.2 The Art of the Ancient Fashion
A dress that's thousands of years old, and so on. Alastair finally gets to dress up and trip down a runway too.

4/4 The final ep spends quite a while on the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, squeezes in the Riddle of the Sands, and then goes into reflection of the themes of the series, whether class, or grief, etc.

I think I got more out of this series than the other one (and one to go).
Wonderland - Gothic
1/4 Much talk on themes, then considering Mary Shelley, the Bronte sisters, Daphne du Maurier and some Arthur Conan Doyle too. I certainly didn't realise that Frankenstein or Heathcliff were meant to be racial metaphors.

He talked to Joan Bakewell at some live event at the NFT, then gave 2 separate Film 'nn chats, managing to miss Barry Norman both times - the latter chat with Russell Harty was notable for Paul claiming to have watched Dennis Taylor winning the snooker world championship with his wife Joanne Woodward even more rapt. There's a novel angle on an old story.
Paul Newman talks to Joan Bakewell (at the NFT)
The full chat is quite fun, even though Paul is fairly reticent (or the questions tended to be crap). Also the two films he's promoting both look lousy (and have been largely forgotten too).

But of course. They did at least largely agree that it's a rip-off of A Christmas Carol.
CCM: Miracle on 34th Street
Brilliantly released in the Summer, whereafter it ran until Christmas and changed the premise of Christmas movies to being a bit more modern ever after. That said, it's a chronic episode for 4 people repeating each other, and sometimes veering off a near-identical script.

2/4 Dracula, Jekyll & Hyde, The Raven, plus so many other authors that you wonder there's anyone left for the last 2 parts.

Late Night w/Seth Meyers
Not watched this much lately, but did catch him talking to Sabrina Carpenter this week.

2.3 The Art of Tea
Ancient rituals and dynastic symbols. Annoyingly, having shown these episodes on the BBC News channel, they seem to expect viewers to turn to iPlayer to finish the series. Why bother showing anything? bladewave

3/4 And the answer is that they rushed onto more modern options like Anne Rice, Hilary Mantel, and then a good long chunk on Gothic movies.
