Van Gogh, by Vincent
A new look at a certain Dutch painter, with several art experts discussing 8 of his self-portraits. The ear slicing incident happened one Christmas, which just goes to show.

Whicker's World - An impression of Penang : "I haven't taken my own shoes off for 45 years..!"
Al went in 1976 and talked to several white people who stayed on after independence, some of whom were more tolerable than others. Then he chatted to former Malaysian leader Tunku Abdul Rahman, and marvelled at those taking part in the Thaipusam festival, which generally looked damn painful.

6.2 Aynho Wharf to Bablock Hythe
I'm intrigued by the number of places he goes to that I've never heard of (Kirtlington gets a mention here), but he also goes to Oxford and is dismayed how busy it is. He ends up on part of the Thames.

6.3 Oxford to Reading
OK, so I've heard of both of those. And he stops in Abingdon and Goring, and through Pangbourne (where he passes Jimmy Page's old house, before later bringing up the watermill seen on Black Sabbath's 1st album cover). Drama comes from a plumbing issue and having to hang on until he can reach a village with a hardware shop where the remedy costs 12p.
