Global Public Square
FZ gets out of the studio to attend a talking shop event in Aspen, where he then talked to Jake Sullivan among others about global stuff, though Sullivan amusingly wound up suggesting that the USA might now be more of a problem than Russia or Iran.

My Week With...
1/3 Maggi Hambling
Kate Bryan gets her own series in which she meets various artists. In Maggi's case, this involves visiting exotic places like Turin, and Suffolk. Maggi plays along gamely with silly tricks like using an iPhone for filming.

The Bottom Line
Steve Clemons talks to Senator Chris van Hollen about Trump's reframed foreign policy, and then to author Trita Parsi about the fallout from the short war on Iran.

A conflicted LGBTQ+ advocate, but a steadfast opponent of communism (and Trumpism).

MWW...
2/3 Lubaina Himid
Lives somewhere near Preston apparently, though too vague to tell (perhaps wisely). Her studio, though, is in a very familiar place in the city centre. She and Kate even go to Blackpool too (yay) to watch the circus (er, what?), before eventually going to London (boring).

Unspun World with John Simpson
Last in this latest mini-series; back in September, if we're all spared.

RE: What TV show did you last watch?
Long Way Home. Episodes 1-10.

Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman set off on another of their epic Motorcycle trips, this time exploring their "back yard" by setting off from Ewan's home in Perthshire, taking the ferry from "Newcastle" (North Shields to be accurate) then travelling up through the Netherlands, around the Scandinavian countries then back down through the Baltics, Poland and then through Western Europe to Charley's home in Slurry...err I mean Surrey.

After riding Electric Bikes in "Long Way Up" the gimmick this time is to do the trip on a pair of 50 year old "classic" bikes, with all the obvious issues that come with them. On their travels they visited Svalbard and went to great lengths to tell us that it's one of the places that's affected most by climate change. How they square this with riding a couple of 50 year old relics around Europe is anyone's guess, but whatever....

As has become traditional on these trips, they both managed to drop their bikes which is particularly risky for Boorman after his major crashes in 2016 & 2018. His body is held together with tissue paper & snot.

It's another fun show with 2 friends enjoying themselves but in the penultimate episode a visit to a Ukrainian Refugee centre in Poland brings everyone back down to earth with a bump. They're both involved with UNICEF and seeing the Ukrainian kids playing and trying to have a normal life in a foreign country was particularly sobering.

Behold the field in which I grow my fucks. Lay thine eyes upon it and thou shalt see that it is barren.
