Last Week Tonight w/John Oliver
An unusually extended show looking at Juvenile Justice, which like most other forms of American justice, is a shocking mess.

The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart
An emotional response to the murder of a Minnesota senator, and scorn for the broken record warnings of Iranian nuclear threats.

Joe Lycett's United States of Birmingham
1/4 Cringe telly, to be honest, as Joe tries to forge links with several places in the USA called Birmingham, seemingly so he can patronise as many strangers as possible.

10.4 Rather than revisiting Hampton Court, they went on to St Pancras Basin, for a busy canal side scene, with the wildcards lumbered with Gasometer Alley (sic). The palette knife artist surprisingly wins.
LAotY 2025
10.5 Back to the Llanberis area for the Dinorwic Quarry, near Parc Padarn. The results are mostly very good, save the poor bloke using charcoal who has 3 tries and isn't happy with any of them (a rare case of failure).

Auerbach at the Biennale
Repeat from 1986, possibly as the guy recently died. He was another painter new to me, and he was interviewed by Robert Hughes as a mark of respect, and was joint winner of the top Gold Lion prize.

JL's USoB
2/4 Slightly better, he seems won over by some less psychotic American traits, and the mayors all sign their agreements like lambs.

Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster.

You all know the story by now. A cavalier wanker named Stockton Rush charges a small fortune to take people with too much money and a minimal sense of self-preservation down to the arse end of the Ocean to see the wreck of a ship that killed his wife's Great Great Grandparents. It was always going to end badly, wasn't it?

The Documentary takes us through a selection of former Oceangate Staff, several of whom had serious doubts about the safety of Titan but who were ultimately shitcanned by a man who didn't like people who say no.
You would have thought that a loud bang coming from the Hull of the first Titan and the subsequent discovery of a crack in the Carbon Fibre that led to the hull being scrapped would have given Rush some cause for concern, but no, our hapless hero carries on regardless and kills himself and a few others.

The video of the final dive, with Wendy Rush sitting up in the support ship running comms when the implosion is actually heard is quite sobering and she seems to know what happened but doesn't want to believe that the Titanic has claimed another member of her family.

Behold the field in which I grow my fucks. Lay thine eyes upon it and thou shalt see that it is barren.

LAotY 2025
10.6 Back to Bristol, at the Harbourside, with a view of gaudily painted houses, much like Balamory. They pick a print maker who uses really small wood blocks for her creations.

8.6 The end of the series, presumably, with a look at the Scottish Maritime Museum, plus repeats from shows involving boats and some trains.
Susan Calman's Grand Day Out by the Sea
8.7 She's back again (perhaps since it's nearly the summer), visiting Bridlington (and Flamborough Head), and palling up with has-been Sinitta too.
