Should Dana White Strip Jon Jones of UFC HW Title?

For the last year Tom Aspinall has been UFC Interim HW champion and Jon Jones is the UFC HW champion and Tom ever since winning the Interim title has been chasing Jones to for the Unification fight.

I do respect Jones' legacy, but holding up the HW division as he is doing by repeatedly knocking back Tom is showing direspect as a champion. When Jon fought Stipe, Dana White at the press conference publicly said the winner of that fight should "Absolutely" fight Tom. Now Jones has said he needs SIX MONTHS to prepre for a fight with Tom

Tom has called out Jon saying "Fight Me or Retire"

Now the question is: - Is it time for Dana White to publicly pull Jon into line and say : "Defend against Tom here and now in six weeks or be stripped of the title". but I have a feeling there is a rule within the unified rules of MMA that probably says a champion can't be stripped of the title.
