I really don't get this sentiment. And I'm not having a go at you Babelover -- I know that this is a common expression nowadays.

But 52-48 reveals a divided country. And we have divided Parliament. That sounds pretty representative to me.

What's more, after three years of this, we have learned that Brexit is not a binary issue. It's not just a matter of being 'in' or 'out'. There are different permutations and different degrees of being in or out. In this case, it IS possible to be 'a little bit pregnant'.

Knowing that, a 52-48 result is a mandate for a soft Brexit. Respect the 52, but don't throw the 48 under a bus as if they don't matter. The compromise that Snookered is looking for: that's it. And if they'd recognized that from the start, I think this would have ended a long time ago.

But that wasn't enough for the ERG. So everything that has happened since the referendum has just been internal party politics. We've all been sucked into some twisted Tory psychodrama and, in the end, if the hard brexiteers win, we'll be the ones that are poorer for it. And they've somehow conned us into thinking that that's the will of the people.
