Decoding Turner
Lengthy effort as two academics try to prove hidden images in several Turner paintings, whilst a motley cast agree/disagree. There seemed 2 main problems to me: why would Turner bother endlessly adding extra stuff to his paintings, and why would he keep doing it in so many paintings? The supporting cast steal this, though, from dubious psychologist Raj Persaud answering why Turner would turn his work into early Magic Eye pictures, to Andrew Graham Dixon, Rob Bell, James Fox, even Francisco thing from Venice, among those offering their $0.02 on the findings. It really felt like a desperate trawl of all these sorts of presenters who on other days would present this sort of rubbish themselves, only more academically, or that these were the only ones free and willing to play along.
