RE: Cricket Banter - Charlemagne - 23-05-2018 15:11 I see that one of the world's top batsmen AB De Villiers has announced his retirement RE: Cricket Banter - lancealot790 - 10-06-2018 22:27 After losing matches to Bangladesh, Ireland and West indies i really thought English cricket could sink no lower but this team just had to go and prove me wrong. They have bought new levels of shame and humiliation on the national game by losing to FUCKING SCOTLAND! That was without doubt the worst bowling performance by an England team i have ever had the misfortune to witness. Shambolic, inept, incompetent and gutless, Root and Morgan should both be made to resign and never allowed to captain England again at any level, and those so called bowlers should never be picked again. RE: Cricket Banter - lovebabes56 - 10-06-2018 22:31 totally shambolic!! We must be further down the ODI rankings than Scotland - And we host the World cup Next year too!! RE: Cricket Banter - lancealot790 - 10-06-2018 23:01 Its hard to believe after what we witnessed today but England are actually the No1 ranked side in the world at one day cricket. RE: Cricket Banter - lovebabes56 - 10-06-2018 23:03 might not be for much longer if we can't beat teams like Scotland why is it from time to time when one of our national teams plays in our national sports we are shit at it? England rugby losing and now the cricket team - can it get any worse? RE: Cricket Banter - lancealot790 - 10-06-2018 23:28 England have been flattering to deceive for a while now, they have won matches because the lower order and Chris Woakes especially have got them out of trouble. The batting is fine in general but there are serious problems with the bowling, without anderson, broad, stokes and woakes England have nothing in reserve and the people drafted into replace them are just not good enough. Plunkett, Wood, Rashid, Curran, Willey and Ali are nowhere near international standard, they are little more than cannon fodder. Super Callies go ballistic, England are atrocious. (Bairstow excepted) Where do you start? Only Moeen Ali managed to bowl his 10 overs for less than 7 runs per over, conceding 6.6 rpo, but taking zero wickets. Mark Watt, a 21 year old left arm spinner, managed to take 3 wickets in his 10 overs at 5.5 rpo. This on a superb batting wicket offering no turn at all. Alasdair Evans, a 29 year old medium-pace seamer whose cricketing highlight (apart from playing for Scotland) was 4 appearances for Durham 2nd XI last month, managed to take 2 wickets at 6.25 in 8 overs. But... if you look at their first 2 overs when Bairstow was batting, Watt conceded 20 runs and Evans 25 runs. After Bairstow was out, they returned figures as follows :- Watt 8 0 35 3 rpo 4.75 Evans 6 1 25 2 rpo 4.17 (inc. a maiden, FFS) What the hell were the other English batsmen doing? If Bairstow can knock 'em all over the park, why can't Roy, Hales and Root do it? Bairstow scored 105 runs from 59 balls at a strike rate of 178. Roy, Hales and Root between them, on the same park against the same bowlers, scored 115 runs off 113 balls, S/R 102. Okay, Hales and Root didn't bat in the first 10 overs, when fielding restrictions favoured the batsmen more than the bowlers, but surely that alone can't explain the massive difference in strike rate. Hales (93) and Billings (86) were the only batsmen in the top 9 to score at less than a run a ball (100 s/r), and surely they must go when Stokes and Buttler return. As for who goes if Woakes returns, Gawd knows, pick any one of Wood, Willey or Plunkett, rpo 7.1, 7.2, and 8.5 respectively. Unfortunately, Plunkett, with the worst rpo, took the most wickets and batted best of the 3 seamers. Who'd be a selector with this lot?! RE: Cricket Banter - Charlemagne - 12-06-2018 07:52 Mark Watt spoke to Moeen Ali at the end of the over before Moeen played a rash shot and was caught on the boundary. Had he siked Moeen out Are there any of the Scotland players who could be brought into the England team? |
