RE: US Election & Presidency - HannahsPet - 09-11-2024 15:02 Democrats easy gavin newsome, pete buttigeg Republicans either another trump or if he is alive himself they will change the two term rule RE: US Election & Presidency - Cooper_temple - 09-11-2024 15:07 Am enjoying the socials about Gavin Newsom being Patrick Bateman ![]() RE: US Election & Presidency - Cooper_temple - 09-11-2024 15:10 (09-11-2024 14:59 )SecretAgent Wrote: ^ Gavin Newsom for Democrats & JD Vance for Republicans (as sitting President It does help that Gavin Newsom looks like an American President you'd see in movies. RE: US Election & Presidency - southsidestu - 09-11-2024 18:23 I get the feeling that middle America or Murica would be put off by Newsom being a California Liberal/Coastal Elite, he is portrayed in the media as the mirror image of De Santis, full steam ahead on progressive policies. I would expect him to run & i would imagine Whitmer, Shapiro, Buttigieg, Beshear, Moore to be in the mix. The first three would be the strongest, Buttigieg the youngest would have a good next generation of leadership image & is very strong one to one, if you see him on Fox he holds his own really well & did video for a YT channel where he debates 25 undecided voters & is pretty convincing when he speaks. However one big problem for him was when he ran in the 2020 primary he was less popular with black voters than Trump. Whitmer & Shapiro are both Governers & can pitch themselves as D.C outsiders, Michigan & Pennsylvania are both in the top 10 states that match the US demographically as a whole not just on race but age, education, income, diversity of occupation etc, as well as being crucial battleground states. Of course after goin 0-2 the Dems might be wary of picking another female candidate RE: US Election & Presidency - lovebabes56 - 09-11-2024 19:12 Probably will be something like 10 years before we'll see another female candidate by either side. Mind you - we could always send Liz Truss or Mad Nad over! ![]() (09-11-2024 14:47 )The Silent Majority Wrote:(09-11-2024 11:57 )Charlemagne Wrote: Didn't Trump promise to end the war in the Ukraine within 24 hours of winning the election. Going to be a very interesting Day 1 - he'll have a lot (Or a fair bit to be precise) on his plate to deal with and I don't think he'll find the time to speak to Zelensky. My guess he'll be far more inclined to do a deal with Putin than Zelensky and pushes Zelensky into a corner where he has to accept it. As well as going through congress. Actually i don't hate being a party pooper, i love it RE: US Election & Presidency - ukusagolf - 10-11-2024 02:22 (09-11-2024 09:39 )The Silent Majority Wrote:(09-11-2024 03:07 )ukusagolf Wrote: Just a sad footnote to the Election It is world wide, still quite a few in the US did not know Looking into some of the reasons why Undecided Voters voted the way they did Oh boy ![]() Doesn't say a lot about common sense ![]() I saw that some in the Democratic Party feel the need to educate voters on how the system actually works. Which does hurt when it comes to their image of being the "Elitist" party RE: US Election & Presidency - ukusagolf - 10-11-2024 03:00 Snooks and Goodfella make some really strong points Really hammers home what is important and what isn't important It's not that nobody cares, I really think it is a lack of awareness of consequences of our actions. It's more about the cultural divide here, so a lot of people are too wrapped up in those battles over WORLD altering problems. Besides COVID and Climate Control are seen as hoaxes to some ![]() It's all about party identity politics and making sure the other side doesn't win. There's been a shift in the perception of each party as well. You guys probably have a better understanding of how they come across than we do ![]() Both parties run on problems, but don't always want to fix them. Who can pounce on the problems and profit from them ![]() As long as there is racial/gender tension, they feed into long term goals of the Parties RE: US Election & Presidency - Snooks - 10-11-2024 12:17 Really useful to have the perspective of someone actually living through it all in America. Thank you ukusagolf. |
