If Triple GGG beats Alvarez in their fight in the early hours of Sunday morning, he will set a world record of 21 successful defences for any titleholder

I'm looking forward to the Canelo v GGG 2 fight but being a BT sports subscriber already I refuse to pay an extra score (£20) to watch it on BT Sports PPV (piss taking b'stards) so I'll probably listen to it on the radio.

I'm tipping Canelo to win a split points decision this time & probably set up a 3rd fight to complete a trilogy.

The record is 25 defences held by Joe Louis

I hope GGG spanks the cheating little druggie who should have had a much longer drugs ban, but I suspect it will be another very close fight.

There will be plenty who will say a Canelo win will be bad for boxing I would agree given the length of suspension he got for his failed test I'm hoping it will be worth the listen and goes the distance

Close contest heading into round 11.
An excellent battle for supremacy.

And at the end of it all Alvarez gets the nod to win on majority decision.
115-113
115-113
114-114

It was very close all the way through.
Tough fight to call. To be honest I had it as a draw but that result would have been controversial. Mind you the actual result will be controversial too I suspect.

Canelo won. Really do think Triple G was hard done by As I think he did more than Canelo. A third now has to be a possibility but do think a lot is down to whether Gennady is willing to put himself through another war with Alvarez

A great toe to toe fight (or fight in a phone-booth as the late Reg Gutteridge would call it) marred by a dubious decision tbh, & although I predicted a split points decision for Canelo above but having watched the fight on Youtube I had GGG 2 rounds ahead on my score-card.Credit to both fighters conditioning & punch resistance though with both fighters setting a high pace for the full 12 rounds.

The old dodgy judge's decisions, biased refereeing etc has been the rotten side of boxing (the dirty politics) for years & it surprises me it has never been cleaned up. Where home-town fighters fighting in their back yard are often shown biased towards them or where fighter's are merely protected as they belong to a certain promoter/ promotion.Or when certain World Title Organisations (WBA,WBO,IBF etc) or even promoters prefer to use certain judges as it gets them the result they want.

It may come a time to take human judge's out of the equation & go to a computerized score-card (like they have done in the amateurs) or offer KO bonuses to fighters (like they do in UFC) to incentivise fighters to not let fights go the distance (just a thought).
