Canelo Alvarez looked good in a rather one sided fight at the weekend against fellow Mexican Julio Chavez Jr in Las Vegas.Chavez Jr took some hard shots from Alvarez in the early rounds & then seemed to box on the retreat & resort to survival mode until the end of the fight in which the judges awarded pretty much every round to Canelo.Chavez Jr just didn't seem to have anywhere near the heart or talent of his father the Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez Senior.
Genady Golovkin entered the ring at the end & the announced a September date has been rubber-stamped between GGG & Alvarez (I'm edging towards Alvarez for that one).
On the undercard one of boxings hardest pound for pound punchers Lucas Matthysse made a long awaited awaited return moving up to Welterweight & stopping one-time prospect American Emanuel Taylor in the 5th round,Matthysse showed true knockout power that has earned him a record of 39 wins 36 by ko.

It is now understood that Conor McGregor has apparently signed the contract to fight Floyd Mayweather
It has to go down as one of the biggest mismatches in history and probably the worst move McGregor ever made

I guess that all depends on how you want to look at things.
Obviously there will be a side of McGregor that really wants to bang Mayweather out, going down in history as 'the one that could'. But his main motives here will definitely be financial, and on that front, he can't lose.
It's definitely interesting however you look at things.

You do realise that UFC fighters don't tend to make that much money in comparison to how much a boxer can earn? Conor hasn't just landed himself a boxing match here, he's launched himself into the most lucrative fight you could possibly imagine. And that's despite the amount of people who thought it would or could never happen.
And you think that's stupid?

wont be as much as if he had left UFC and then fought. its him getting in the ring and could get hurt also so the UFC can take a huge cut that dana white not a mug mind you UFC taking a risk of being a laughing stock there best fighter gets knocked out by a old fighter who hasnt fought for 2 years

mcgregor's a very wily businessman. i'm sure he's in control of all these negotiations as he's taken a year off the ufc. the ufc i'm sure will get a cut but mcgregor will likely take the lions share.

I would seriously doubt this fight would be taking place without Dana White's influence anyway.
And there will be no egg on the face of the UFC no matter what happens, everybody knows that Conor is an MMA fighter and the odds are heavily stacked against him.
He's making a stout-hearted move here, and It's not like we're ever going to see Floyd in the octagon playing so far away from home is it?
There will be a head shaped hole in my ceiling if Conor puts him on his arse.
