Notts achieved the required bonus points to secure the title yesterday courtesy of a century by captain Hameed.

Despite failing to land their 4th consecutive title Surrey have a part to play at the other end of the table. They are one wicket away from beating Hampshire who need 33 runs to save themselves from relegation. A Hampshire loss would save Durham from the drop, providing that Durham draw against Yorkshire. Yorkshire look safe regardless with a shortened day 3 against Durham means a draw is most likely. If Hampshire win Durham look doomed as Yorkshire are still in their 1st innings with one wicket remaining & a lead of 119. Durham might need a quick wicket & set Yorkshire a small target.

Surrey have beaten Hampshire & are now favourites to be relegated as Durham only require to draw against Yorkshire who are safe now even with a loss.

Durham only had to bat out the final day once the took the last Yorkshire first innings wicket, they had a deficit of 129, but sadly capitulated to 85 all out inside 45 overs.
I'm happy with a Yorkshire victory, but it's bittersweet, as I'd have preferred another Northern County in Div 1.

Lancashire finished with a good win and end in the mid-table, which is not bad given our rotten first half of the season.

^^ Best news I've heard, I've hated this for so long & none of is makes any sense, the use of an Aussie ball in alien conditions will not be the reason we win the Ashes, & it makes the County Championship a complete farce.
Yorkshire's Head Coach Anthony McGrath was in a spot of bother this year for speaking out against the use of said ball. Really hope we can get back to some sort of parity.

Does this mean we will go back to the Duke ball next season?
I would also like to see the ECB actually tell the counties that it doesn't matter which division they are in. but all in form players at any time next season, will be given far more serious consideration for Test duties.

To me, it's not the 100 or T20 that BREEDs or produces good Test cricketers, the County Championship DOES!!

Why would they do that when its already the case. In fact you can tell me which members of the current squad play for 2nd Division Teams!
