Not a great watch. Hopefully this 2nd semi will be a more watchable contest.

Shaun Murphy will face Mark Williams in the final after a 6-4 victory over Gary Wilson. Murphy took the first frame before Wilson powered in breaks of 81 and 139 to go 3-1 in front.
But that merely made Murphy turn on the after burners. The Magician won 5 out the next 6 frames with breaks of 81, 131, 140 and 141 to storm over the winning line.

Mark Williams has produced an outstanding performance to beat Shaun Murphy 10-3 and claim the title. Six breaks over 50 and two tons got the job done for the Welshman who becomes the oldest ever ranking event winner at the age of 50 by winning his 27th ranking title.

I suspect chasing Ray Reardon's records is the sort of quirk that would motivate Williams to go on. Well done him, a compelling result given the way Tubs had been playing in earlier rounds.

Yes, indeedy. Ray Reardon had been the oldest player to win a ranking event at the age of 50 years and 14 days when he won the Professional Players tournament in 1982. That record has stood for 43 years, but Mark Williams has now broken it, winning this event at the age of 50 years and 206 days. Well done that man!!

Sadly Tubbs has done enough to get into the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship at the expense of Mark Selby. It's been confirmed that this event was the cutoff point for Riyadh. Tubbs is now at no.9 in the rankings, pushing Selby to 10th. As Zhao Xintong is World Champion, he gets an invitation, even though he's at 12th. So unless they change it up at the last minute like they did 2 years ago, the 10 players invited to Riyadh will be Zhou Xintong and the top 9.
