RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - Boomerangutangangbang - 01-03-2014 00:14 Poor captaincy from Broad, bowling out Tredwell to early so he couldn't call on his only front-line spinner later with part time spinner Ali bowling in the Batting Power Play & worse still Root bowling inside the last 5 overs with West Indies only 5 wickets down Bravo & Sammy weren't going to tap him around for singles.he should've had the brains & balls to bowl himself.Unless Stokes has an injury it was crying out for a spell in the middle overs when another wicket would've set them back further, especially with Jordan having an off day.Stokes can go for runs but he's a wicket taking bowler & they were scoring at less than 4 an over at that time. Bopara, playing in his 100th ODI is supposed to be The Finisher,he made 23 off 24 balls & couldn't find the boundary, nuff said. Currently 87 runs required off 72 balls with 7 wickets and long batting line up England would seem to be favourites. That said I have seen England mess up from the sort of position before and on more than one occasion. Welcome to the thread Jack Bishop. Do you think England have a long batting lineup? I'm not so sure. RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - Boomerangutangangbang - 01-03-2014 16:12 England have a long batting line-up on paper, trouble is the game isn't played on paper it's played on grass ![]() ![]() RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - Boomerangutangangbang - 01-03-2014 16:16 If West Indies have half a brain they'll play Miller as their 2nd spinner in place of Holder who didn't bowl his full quota & was expensive. Really hope Morgan is fit,we may well have got over the line with home batting at 5.Luke Wright looked a mess batting at No.3. RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - Boomerangutangangbang - 01-03-2014 18:29 Bell will join the squad as cover for the injured Hales & Morgan. On paper they have, but as Boomer said not played on paper, Broad batting at 10 and Treadwell at 11 (who bats, albeit, for his county at 7 or 8) would suggest a long line up to me. The problem is as with the recent tour down under a lot of batters are not delivering what they are capable of at present. RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - Charlemagne - 02-03-2014 09:34 England need batesmen who can read spin in their team.. It was embarrasing to watch them failing to pick the wrong en. So get Bell in the team RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - William H Bonney - 02-03-2014 13:03 If you go through the match over by over it's interesting that comparing the scores England are ahead almost all the way through, even after 48 overs. It's only in the 49th over that the West Indies total is higher than England's. Anyway despite England's failings and inability to win from a winning position, let's give credit to the West Indies for twice fighting back from a losing position, once from 45/4 in their innings and again from 180/2 in England's innings. RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - cosmonaut - 02-03-2014 14:08 England need to bowl well at the death, which they didn't. The same thing exactly kept happening in Australia. RE: West Indies vs England 2014 - Boomerangutangangbang - 02-03-2014 14:18 England win the toss & will bat. England bring in Parry as a 2nd speciall spinner with Jordan missing out.West Indies also play another spinner in Miller at the expense of Holder. |
