My boss is a geordie and he was pretty shellshocked at this news. Hughton got them up, and they're mid-table, having already beaten Chelsea in a cup & Arsenal in the league, what more does Ashley want?
Knowing him he'll probably employ Ant & Dec as joint managers
Stability is what is needed. Look at Ferguson, at one time he was on the brink of getting the boot and look at the success he's had since.

So Mike Ashley wants a bigger name manager, does he? Just heard on Talksport that Alan Pardew is headed to Tyneside for talks. Is he even a big name boss? - I wouldn't have thought so.
It's almost as if Ashley enjoys the ridicule.

It's almost a certainty that Pardew is gonna get named this afternoon.
As far as Ashley looking silly goes, if he does name Pardew it's clear that he doesn't care about how stupid he looks. How is Alan Pardew a step up from Houghton? More like two steps backwards IMO.
Alledgedly a FIVE YEAR contract in the offing as well, obviously Pardew comes dirt cheap.
I reckon Ashley is giving the Newcastle fans a slap, trying to remind them who's in charge. Best of luck with that one then, even Newcastle fans will only take so much.

pardew is the new manager it has been confirmed. newcastle in the championship again and i dont think that the players will play with full conmitment for pardew or ashley.

Pardew was sacked a the manager of Southampton, so he's the obvious guy to take on the challenge of Newcastle..
I can see a few of the player leaving in January.

Absolutely genius negotitating by Pardew and his agent it has to be said. £750,000 a year for 5 and a half years. Thats £4,000,000 in the bank when he gets sacked in May!!
