RE: UK Championships - Joannis - 25-11-2025 07:24

High drama last night as the players ranked 17-32 entered the fray! Chang Bingyu made a 147 break, but lost 6-5 to Maguire on the black! Lyu Haotian came back from 5-1 behind to beat Matthew Stevens 6-5. David Glbert needed a deciding frame to beat Julian Boiko 6-5. Milkins lost 6-5 to Daniel Wells.

Michal Szubarczyk is still going after beating Jordan Brown 6-4. Michael Holt beat Jackson Page 6-3. Mitchell Mann beat Chris Wakelin 6-3. Ian Burns beat Luca Brecel 6-3.

Artemijs Zizins 6 Carter 4 Smile Smile Smile

In another upset, Louis Heathcote beat Lisowski 6-2. I don't know whether Long Zehuang beating Arron Hill 6-1 can be classed as an upset, but Aaron has had some good results recently. Scott Donaldson beat McGill 6-1.

Michal Szubarczyk lost 6-3 to Noppon. Liam Pullen lost 6-5 to Bingham. Zhou Yuelong whitewashed Marco Fu 6-0. Zak Surety came back from 5-2 down to beat Martin O'Donnell 6-5, making a 108 break in the decider.

The highest number of maximums in a season stood at 15, but after Chang Bingyu's 147 last night, that record has been broken. There have been 16 maximums this season, and there's still over 5 months to go.

No maximum for Thepchaiya yet, but he currently leads Robbie Williams 4-1, and he did make a 129.

It took Maguire until the early hours of this morning to finish off Bingyu, so goodness knows what time tonight's sessions are going to finish. Tomorrow is...Judgement Day!

Two time UK Championship winner Stephen Maguire is through to play at the York Barbican after comfortably beating Ian Burns 6-1.

Michael Holt will be joining Maguire in York after coming back from 3-1 down to Yuan Sijun at the interval to take 5 frames in a row and win 6-5.

Mitchell Mann won the 10th frame on the black to force a decider against Lyu Haotian, but Haotian won the decider.

Daniel Wells held David Gilbert at 4-4, but Gilbert dominated the last 2 frames to win 6-4.

What a night! It was a night of comebacks.

Comeback of the night was Scott Donaldson's. He was 5-0 down to Stuart Bingham, but with runs of 56,64,110,51,91 and 64 he won 6-5.

Elliott Slessor was 3-1 down to Zak Surety at the interval, But he won 5 of the next frames to win 6-4,capping it off with a 105 break.

Ben Woollaston was losing 4-1 to Joe O'Connor, but he came back to level at 5-5 . making a 135 break along the way. He then won a dramatic deciding frame that went on for over an hour before claiming victory over the Leicester cueman.

The only straightforward match of the night was Zhou Yuelong making 2 centuries in a comfortable 6-2 victory over Welshman Jamie Clarke.

I would love to be announcing that Latvian Player Artemijs Zizins was going to York, and he did make a 72 break to level at 5-5, but he gave battle in vain as David Lilley got the better of him in the decider.

Noppon started off like a rocket with a 127 break, but Pang Junxu then took control of the match and won 6-2.

Long Zehuang pulled off a pressure yellow to pink clearance, where practically every shot, except the pink, he was out of position, to win the decider against Louis Heathcote.

Ryan Day made a decisive 53 break in the decider to see off Hossein Vafaei 6-5.

RE: UK Championships - Joannis - 28-11-2025 07:41

Julian LeClercq, the Belgian Beast, gets to the last 32 of the UK Championship for the first time. He was beating He Guoqiang 4-0, but Guoqiang won the next 4 frames to level at 4-4. Unfazed, Leclercq won the next 2 with breaks of 88 and 70 to progress to York. Other than that, it was success for China as Zhang Anda, Lei Peifan, and Xu Si all won.

The tie I'm looking forward to is Ronnie v Zhou Yuelong. If Ronnie plays as bad as he did in Riyadh, Yuelong will destroy him.

RE: UK Championships - Joannis - 29-11-2025 22:15

Judd v Maguire was an open game that could have gone either way, but Judd managed to win 6-4 despite making plenty of errors. At 3-3 Maguire couldn't believe he missed an easy red into the middle, but Judd took full advantage and made a 66 break to go 4-3. Judd then went 5-3 after a dramatic black ball game. Maguire kept himself in the match with an 86 break, but Judd made a decisive 62 break in the 10th frame to win the match.

Ryan Day didn't bring his form in qualifying into his match with Si Jiahui, and Si whitewashed Day 6-0 despite only making 3 breaks over 60.
