Rangers got a win at last, just in time for October.

Hamilton beat leaders Inverness, to become the new leaders (pushed close by Stenhousemuir, though).

East Stirling got another rare win, and in keeping with their previous high octane result, this was a 4-1 win at Cowdenbeath.

But not soon enough to save Russell Martin. Presumably he'll be crying on wossname's shoulder?

Dunfermline beat Raith Friday night.

Hamilton beat Montrose 4-0 and cling to the top spot above Stenhousemuir.

East Stirling got battered 5-3, following a midweek loss to Tranent.

Rangers have swerved the risk of having to turn to Rafa Benitez by picking someone who makes Russell Martin seem recognisable.

Its good to have the deal done and its a lot better than spinning around in limbo, to have another Gerrard or Muscat situation would have been catastrophic

Hamilton lost to Queen of the South, and also seem to have been docked 6 points.

East Stirling lost a Cup match at Clydebank.

But Hearts drubbed Celtic and are just 6 months away from a first title since who knows when.

Hearts last won the title in 1960. 8pts is a good gap at present but like the Premier League, that can change pretty quickly with a win or two. I would re - assess Hearts chances of winning at Christmas tbh. I would say it does look like both Rangers & Celtic are probably in a transitional period but not in decline in any way but I did hear a Celtic fan call 606 on the way home last night and wasn't very happy!! and It as I said in the PL thread, it would be also refreshing to see Hearts win it but I'm not sure what their next three games are.

What was the reason for docking the 6pts? I would hazard at a guess an ineligible player or administration??

Pretty sure I always thought Scotland's big 5 were Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Aberdeen and presumably Dundee United.

It really is hard to call Dundee United a big 5 team they have had a few relegations under there belt recently , even Hearts themselves had one.

To me you can only be considered a big 5 team if you don't get relegated , can you imagine that happening to a big 6 team in the English Premier League , never will.
