RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - bytor - 04-04-2015 18:04 Aimed purely at a young audience that has no idea on the history of Thunderbirds I thought it was quite a reasonable transformation. Some nice touches too with a clip of Stingray shown as a favourite tv programme. One of the vehicles under the sea also had the crew module of the Eagles from Space 1999. Would love this if I was 7 or 8 again. RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - Rammyrascal - 04-04-2015 18:14 Thought it was good myself and will be watching it again RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - andyjb - 04-04-2015 19:14 Not a bad attempt. Would have preferred it if the characters resembled the originals more. Considering the amount of money it takes to make this type of production, no matter how good the cgi looks, the one thing that always lets it down for me is the lip syncing. Thunderbird 2 now has wings that fold back. I wonder if the reason for this was because, in the original series, the wings on Thunderbird 2 when seen in certain shots, would have hit the pods either side of it. They could have left it fixed wing and adjusted the spacing of the pods. Possibly the island only has a limited space for pod storage. ![]() ![]() RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - Scottishbloke - 04-04-2015 19:32 If I remember rightly weren't all the characters smoking back on it's original run before we ended up living in this PC Britain - Ah the olden days ![]() RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - andyjb - 04-04-2015 20:01 Lady Penelope, Light-Fingered Fred and a Smoking Alien for starters. ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - M-L-L - 05-04-2015 02:22 ![]() The original Barry Gray music I always thought was brilliant, not just the main theme but the music throughout the original series : it really helped with the atmosphere and especially to carry the dialogue-free scenes when the craft were getting set up to launch etc...was always very dramatic and cinematic sounding, like the old 60s and 70s Bond films. RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - Rammyrascal - 05-04-2015 09:49 ^^^ It's repeated on citv (sky channel 621) at 3pm this afternoon M-L-L RE: Thunderbirds Are Go - bigglesworth - 05-04-2015 10:38 (05-04-2015 02:22 )M-L-L Wrote: Fear not, Barry Gray’s original theme has been kept, together with the iconic "5! 4! 3! 2! 1!" (sampling the original voiceover). The main difference from the original series is in what I would call gender balancing. Jeff Tracy is officially missing and Grandma Tracy takes over as the senior member of the Tracy family, whilst Tin-Tin is now Kayo and has become a full member of the Thunderbirds team, showing that girls as well as boys have got what it takes when the going gets tough, and Colonel (Tim) Casey, a minor character from the original series, is now female. The ships were a very good versions though and Lady P back in a Rolls! Plus Brains now appears to be Indian, in a bit of ethnic balancing. |
