RE: General News Thread - Tumble_Drier - 01-11-2025 21:43 "Multiple Stabbings" on Train in Cambridgeshire. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd7rrpwl5zno RE: General News Thread - Snooks - 02-11-2025 10:36 Sounds like the train crew did an exceptional job in response to the on train alarm signal. Managed to get authority to manoeuvre the train from a fast mainline to a slower line and get it to the nearest railway station at Huntingdon so that the various emergency services could be there, ready and waiting to respond as swiftly and effectively as possible. Impressive stuff. Well done peeps. RE: General News Thread - HannahsPet - 02-11-2025 13:16 maybe its time to think about metal detectors at stations for knives and other weapons with these things seemingly happen with some occurance knives are a real problem and they need to get tough on it of course some people will be using this for other motives ive already seen calls for civil war here usally russian bots mind you most of the flag shaggers are so brainless they think they could overthrow the govt and cops and army armed with there barefists

In reality won't work for several reasons. The amount of extra security not just staff would be astronomical. Airport style security just wouldn't be practical on mass transit. Stations also vary in design, someone could just chuck a knife over a fence, bypassing a metal detector. RE: General News Thread - lovebabes56 - 02-11-2025 19:02 Didn't they isolate someone armed on a train in a carriage once because he was armed and dangerous then the train stopped and police swooped and arrested him? Maybe it is time that in this sort of instance on high speed train you could do something similar or perhaps now have undercover officer armed with tasers to apprehend someone armed, as I would fear bullets would have a catastrophic result in such a small and confined space. I would agree that that something needs to be done to prevent this but I think it is not easy one to get right and of course giving the budget for something like this to the rail companies is also risky as they would likely use the money for other purposes it was not intended for in the first place. There now has to be a frank, honest and serious discussion between the services, government and the rail companies (including the Underground) on how to approach this, and come up with a suitable and strong solution that gives the public confidence to travel on public services. RE: General News Thread - Snooks - 02-11-2025 20:34 It turns out one particular member of the train crew is even more of a hero than I originally thought. They are the last of the hospital admissions to be deemed as having life threatening injuries after trying to stop the knife wielding suspect from causing even more harm. Sincerest best wishes to that LNER staff member. Hope they pull through. RE: General News Thread - Tumble_Drier - 05-11-2025 12:50 Another foreign Prisoner released by mistake and it's another one with a history of sexual offences....what a surprise ![]() https://news.sky.com/story/manhunt-for-foreign-prisoner-after-mistaken-release-from-hmp-wandsworth-13464331 RE: General News Thread - lovebabes56 - 05-11-2025 16:39 let's face there is now a pattern emerging and at some point one is going to get released who will simply 'just vanish' Remind me - How many were mistakenly released under the Tories? RE: General News Thread - coolguy4u - 05-11-2025 18:46 I'm convinced it's being done on purpose. To what end, we can only speculate. I refuse to believe people are that incompetent. Especially the first guy since he was so infamous. No way no one double checks. RE: General News Thread - Charlemagne - 06-11-2025 12:14 One of the two prisoners released in error has been caught. Or should I say that he's handed himself in this morning. After a last cigarette he banged on the prison door. |
