RE: Snooker - Joannis - 05-02-2025 23:08 Mark Selby retained the invitational Championship League title. He beat Kyren Wilson 3-0 in the playoff final, making a century break and a 99 break in the process. Earlier, Selby made a 147 in his 3-2 victory over Xiao Guodong. RE: Snooker - Snooks - 06-02-2025 01:14 Yeah Mark Selby has played consistently well in the Championship League. Seen a fair bit of it on live YouTube coverage and he has played some great stuff. Fair play to him. RE: Snooker - Joannis - 07-02-2025 19:54 I don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum with relation to any other sport, but in the ultimate moneygrab, Warner Bros are going to merge TNT Sports and Eurosport in the UK from the 1st of March. Sky and Virgin viewers who have been getting their sport free on Eurosport will have to pay the £30 premium from that date to continue watching their sports. With regard to snooker, the effect may be minimal this season, as the Welsh Open and most of the World Open will be free to watch as usual, all 3 players' series tournaments will hopefully be on ITV, and the World Championship will be on the BBC. However they will have to pay the 30 quid to watch the final of the World Open. Discovery Plus has already implemented the change, so if I don't want to watch the match Eurosport has selected, I'll have to pay the 30 quid to watch an alternative match live on Discovery Plus. I was a TNT Sport subscriber last season when West Ham were in Europe, but not this season. TNT Sport has announced it will be screening the West Ham v Leicester game on Feb 27th, so it may be worth it for me to subscribe to TNT Sport for a month from Feb 27th if they announce another West Ham fixture before March 27th. However, it's still a moneygrab, and more than 3 times the cost of an Amazon Prime subscription for a month. And they wonder why people get firesticks ![]() ![]() RE: Snooker - Snooks - 23-02-2025 22:23 Selt given suspended ban for 'aggressive' behaviour - https://www.bbc.com/sport/snooker/articles/c8rkjl45xymo Naughty boy ![]() RE: Snooker - Doddle - 23-02-2025 22:25 Vice-chairman of the WPBSA?! Blimey... RE: Snooker - Joannis - 24-02-2025 08:18 He can't say it wasn't coming. It makes me wonder if that's it, or there's more to come. If he's being punished for his behaviour at the Saudi Masters, then what about his behaviour at the German Masters and the Championship League? Maybe the Saudis are the only ones who complained, maybe there's more on the way later which may result in a larger fine or suspension. RE: Snooker - Joannis - 01-03-2025 18:38 Hong Kong female snooker player Ng On-Yee will be back on the WST tour for the 25/26 season. Ng got to the semi-final of the Women's Belgian Open and now she's so far ahead of Reanne Evans at no.3 in the Women's rankings that Reanne can't catch her by the end of the season; so Ng is guaranteed to be the highest ranked woman player not already on the tour. Reanne's tour card expires in May, so to get it renewed she'll either have to win the Womens World Championship, or Ng, Bai or Mink win the Womens World Championship and Reanne is the highest ranked female player remaining to get the last Womens tour card left. RE: Snooker - Joannis - 02-03-2025 08:21 China's Gao Yang will also be back on the tour for the 2025/26 season after 2 years in the wilderness. Gao won the WSF Championship 2025, beating Maltese amateur Brian Cini 5-3 in the final. As a reminder, the WSF Championship is the unofficial World Amateur Championship run by the WPBSA, but it's the one where a 2 year WST tour card is awarded to the winner. Irishman Leone Crowley won the WSF Junior Championship. He gets a 2 year tour card as well. |
