RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 14-01-2025 14:38 Katie Boulter eventually prevailed in a three set struggle against Rebecca Marino. Boulter won 6-4 3-6 7-5 and will now face Veronika Kudermetova in the second round. Cameron Norrie was not so fortunate however as he lost in four sets to Matteo Berrettini 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-1 6-3. RE: Australian Open - Doddle - 14-01-2025 14:41 Well done Boulter and Raducanu ![]() RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 15-01-2025 14:06 Mixed fortunes at Melbourne Park on day four. Jodie Burrage gave a valiant effort in defeat to Coco Gauff losing 6-3 7-5. Harriet Dart lost to Donna Vekic 4-6 6-0 6-2. Jacob Fearnley continued his fine run with an excellent 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-3 win over Arthur Cazaux of France. And in the last few minutes Jack Draper has once again clawed back a set deficit twice to fight back and beat Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-7 (3-7) 6-3 3-6 7-5 6-3. He trailed 2-5 in the fourth set but won 5 games in a row for salvation before claiming an epic win. RE: Australian Open - Doddle - 15-01-2025 14:37 Great resilience from Fearnley and Draper then. Burrage was always up against it. Dart may rue a missed chance there after a good start, or an opponent who upped her game. RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 16-01-2025 03:19 Good news early on day five ![]() Emma Raducanu is through to the third round after a 6-3 7-5 win over Amanda Anisimova. Her serve was a little more secure and her groundstrokes were excellent. Next up is the small matter of an acid test match up against multiple slam winner Iga Swiatek. RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 16-01-2025 13:41 But Katie Boulter suffered defeat after an error strewn performance as she crashed out of the tournament at the hands of Russia's Veronika Kudermetova 7-6 (7-3) 2-6 6-2. RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 17-01-2025 08:57 Jacob Fearnley finally succumbed to a 6-3 6-4 6-4 defeat to Alexander Zverev. But his overall tournament showed real promise. He did really well and the signs for the future are positive. RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 17-01-2025 15:20 Jack Draper has survived yet another five set epic this time against Aleksandar Vukic. In a match of constant ebbs and flows it came down to a match tie break from which Draper prevailed to win 6-4 2-6 5-7 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (10-8). Next up is a fourth round, box office clash with Carlos Alcaraz. RE: Australian Open - Doddle - 17-01-2025 22:33 Blimey, well done him then. RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 18-01-2025 02:59 Oh dear. Poor Emma Raducanu. Less said the better after a rather chastening loss to Iga Swiatek. |
