All true, but it will further endanger the clubs outside of the very rich and the rich, and make competing on a business level (which largely comes from success on the pitch) harder to do. This will mean they take higher risks by overspending, which will lead to more and more clubs going into administration. This is why in some industries governing/ruling bodies place certain limitations on aspects of business.

well if christiano rolando is worth about the same as newcastle united then this is a footballs lowest ebb. i feel sorry for the smaller teams like luton, rotherham, ok and southhapton who are really struggling. I know there is no quick fix never said there was but something has to be done to sorted this but uefa and fifa has not got the balls to get anything done

so expect a 100 million+ transfers soon wouldn't be suprized if it messi going to man city

Ye tru, all over the world the rich are getting richer and poor getting poorer. I was jus speaking from a players point of view, people who slate the players as mercenaries shud look at the bigger picture, as who cud blame them, they're assets who have a shelf life of 20 years if ur lucky.

Nothing will ever be done about it the obscene transfers tho, Sepp Blatter approves and he's the most powerful man in football.

Unfortunately the world is all money obsessed, so if salary caps or transfer caps do come in, bonuses will go up, there's never gonna be a definitive way to help the lower leagues except possibly the FA pumping more money into the leagues rather than paying a national manager £6m a year

No, you're right. Fifa & Uefa are too scared to do anything - the top clubs have already considered forming a break away league (not sure where that or the G14 is anymore). Look what happened/is happening when the FIA tried to impose a spending cap in Formula 1.

Its ridiculious cos arsenal, man u and liverpool have all made they're money by winning trophies and man city have won fuck all and have more money than all of them put together

It doesn't matter how much money man city have they still won't win anything. If they're (very) lucky they'll finish fourth at Arsenal's expense.

Let us not forget a footballers career is a short one & if you leave aside the overly paid high-earners in the prem then it is only fair that the players are allowed to earn a decent wedge so they can provide for their families in the future.
We should be more disgusted with the money agents are embezzling out of the game & the back-handers/bungs some greedy players/managers have been involved in.

I think it's a bit unfair to concentrate on the wages the players earn during their careers without thinking about what they have had to do to get to that position. All the players will have been playing, practising, training from an early age in the hope that they will be good enough to make it as a professional, all in the knowledge that any day an injury could put an end to their dreams, they don't get paid for this (maybe a few backhanders from some clubs) and in most cases will have sacrificed some elements of their childhood. Are these early years a part of a footballers career? I would say so, without starting from an early age they wouldn't have a chance of being a professional sportsman.

Someone I worked with was a proper Blackburn Rovers fan. As soon as Walker put in his millions, this bloke walked, for good. It would have been easy to stick around, but REAL football fans truly couldn't give .. about money, or any of the bollox that comes with it. Tradition rules. If you don't get that, you don't get football. Pay the pretty show-ponies as much as they think they deserve, make their agents millionaires, whore club ownership out to the wealthiest foreign pimps & complain when your side finishes 4th in the Premier League (because you truly are that much of a brat).

Who am I? Someone who's p*ssed in an outdoor steel trough, mascarading as 'toilet facilities', someone who stood on terraces (remember them) at Cambridge, Carlisle, Bristol Rovers & Halifax & someone who very nearly froze their cock off, watching 120 minutes of a League / Milk / Carling Cup game against Darlington...someone who supported football when it was financially on its arse (before Gazza had a little cry).

Sounds bitter, but despite all the negative stuff, myself & thousands like me, wouldn't swap any of this for Premier League 'glory' (often vicarious/banwagonesque).

The original question was are they worth it? In a commecial sense, possibly, but unfortunately their souls are entirely dead, so short-term monetary gain will generally be the only recompense in life.

Anyone playing the bleeding heart..'oh they give up this that & the other' card needs to f**k right off & get a life.
