I only know Jeff Wayne's tune - not a major headbanger rocker type although I did like Queen'a earlier rock stuff.

Different yes but some great stuff here to look up for yourself. I added the BATMAN theme from the original film because it was modern classical in its own right and Elfman gets the 'atmosphere' of the comic book character spot on.

Some stone cold classics there, pulse racing stuff.

^^ For me,Danny Elfman's theme for Batman is the best of all the films in the series.

I think classical music has changed and people's perceptions nowadays also favour people like Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer and James Newton-Howard and of course the great John Williams's film scores - in fact he is featured every year in the Classic FM Hall of Fame. No reason why you can't have a few classics on a pop mixtape-remember Hooked On Classics with Louis Clark-he got the idea to do a pop/classic combo album using a boom-tah sound because one day when rehearsing he heard a jackhammer going up and down and decided to use that as the 'beat' and set it to some of the best loved and well known classical tunes-instant hit.

Well, I am going to take the esteemed OP at his word (since he isn't here) about the era not mattering.
But then I'm going to stretch it because looking at the tracks this must have been compiled in the 2000s.
And just to add insult to injury, it's a CD-R not a cassette.
