think republicans bottled it when they saw that they were getting blamed and the fact that critical staff had started calling sich laguardia airport had trouble yesterday with not enough air traffic controllers and it would have only got worse

Props to Pelosi though she is having a good run, she very much called the strategy for the midterms of not getting bogged down on talking about Trump and focusing on healthcare and it delivered them a good result in House and now she played hardball with the President and won

Political commentators seem divided as to whether it was the impending air traffic control meltdown, or that his ego was desperate to give his State of the Union speech, that made him cave in. I haven't seen anyone citing empathy for the workers.

Pelosi played a blinder with the SotU speech. First letter said it should be postponed due to security concerns caused by the shutdown. Trump replies that he's been assured there will be no security problems, so there's no need to postpone it.
Pelosi's rely was essentially "You're not getting the fucking message, are you"
