VE Day 2015

Among all the election fever I think we all forgot that today marked a very special date in the calender. Its now exactly 70 years since Germany surrendered unconditionally and brought an end to mass murder and the Nazis and a new beginning now on the horizon with allied forces now assuming full control over Germany with Berlin split into 3 sections with the British, Americans and Russians now in force which ofcourse marked the start of the cold war and the inevitable wall that would soon divide the city.

I salute all the soldiers who protected our democracy and one can only speculate just how differently the world would have panned out if we hadn't secured victory on all fronts.

We owe those old boys a lot.
