Time for a change?

Before dismissing the fringe parties as one trick ponies you should take a closer look at their policies. For instance UKIP are not just about immigration, their health, economic, crime and environmental policies make far more sense than any of the mainstream parties does. If UKIP had the support of the popular press they would form the next government.

What you are saying that UKIP dont get any popular press time

Since it's still just about Panto season, all I can say is "Oh yes, they are!"

Of course UKIP get plenty of press coverage but it is always bad, the British media are owned by the mainstream parties and they make sure UKIP are constantly slagged off. For too long Labour and the Tories have had a monopoly on British politics and when someone else comes along who threatens them they immediately try and crush them, hence all the bad publicity.

I think you will find that the major political parties don't own any newspapers - the country do of course own the BBC who get attacked by all parties!

Don't let the facts get in the way of your political leanings though as it's very entertaining!

Oops... sorry i did not mean owned in the literal sense of the word, i thought people would be able to read the implication without the explanation. Everybody knows that Tories are supported by Rupert Murdock,s news international group, i.e The Sun, The times and Sky, along with The Daily mail. The Labour party can rely on The Mirror, The Guardian and of course the BBC. The fringe parties i.e UKIP, and the Greens among others have no such backing and therefore find themselves under constant attack with no credence given to their polices.

UKIP are facing the scrutiny that the major parties face as they are a threat and will probably pick up seats at the election. At the moment it seems to me that they don't have the organisational structure and internal governance to prevent gaffe after gaffe being exposed. The cult of Farage exposes them as well

UKIP are a fledgeling party and as such will be prone to make mistakes and you are quite right they do not have the resources or organisational skills of the other parties but they will get there. I have no issue with the smaller parties being put under scrutiny but there is scrutiny and then there is a hatchet job.

UKip are not a fledgling party they were founded in 93 and have had candidates in General Elections since 97 which means they have fought 4 elections and this will be there 5th.

like they way that farage is seen as anti-establishment when he is a public school ex Stockbroker who should be pro immigration as his wife is german.

This rubbish about the press scrutinising UKIP - the Sun and the Times are anti-European because Murdoch can make more money out of it. If there was more profit for him in supporting Europe, you can bet his papers would be all for it (page 3 girls from around Europe, perhaps ). UKIP are surfing this anti-European wave.
