Heartbleed

Hope everyone is well protected against this bug, but would love all of us to share what problems (if any) are having with this It is strange that it has only come to light in the last few weeks when it is likely it has been in existence for two years!!

So it would be great if experiences can be shared so that all of us can help one another to stay protected.

I have found that one problem I have found is that Youtube videos don't load through IE but do through Firefox even though I can access Youtube through IE.

What is Heartbleed
Heartbleed is a security vulnerability in OpenSSL software that lets a hacker access the memory of data servers. According to Netcraft, an Internet research firm, 500,000 Web sites could be affected. That means a user's sensitive personal data -- including usernames, passwords, and credit card information -- is potentially at risk of being intercepted.

The vulnerability also means an attacker could steal a server's digital keys that are used to encrypt communications and get access to a company's secret internal documents.

What is OpenSSL
This stands for Secure Sockets Layer, but it's also known by its new name, Transport Layer Security, or TLS. It's the most basic means of encrypting information on the Web, and it mitigates the potential of someone eavesdropping on you as you browse the Internet. (Notice the "https" in the URL of SSL-enabled sites like Gmail, instead of simply "http.")

OpenSSL is open-source software for SSL implementation across the Web. The versions with the vulnerability are 1.0.1 through 1.0.1f. OpenSSL also is used as part of the Linux operating system, and as a component of Apache and Nginx, two very widely used programs for running Web sites. Bottom line: Its use across the Web is vast.
Apparently iOS, Google, Facebook and Twitter are all affected. I did a scan on my tablet which said the version of Android is affected but the vulnerability is not enabled. As a minimum I would change passwords but not sure if this makes any difference. Hopefully patches will be sent out in the near future.
It is thought ordinary individual users will not likely be targeted

I know that that Daily Mail did put up a list of what sites could be vulnerable recently but is there a genuine list that one can view that shows which popular sites are likely to be affected and which are not? Also do we know if the channels themselves have taken protection for this as well? it would be great if they came out and assured that if any of us have subscriptions with them for their channels we can be assured our data is well protected.

What about the channels though? do they run Open SSL?

I wonder how many hackers themselves are pervs!!
