£1.53 per minute.

It would be interesting to know how much of this goes to the telco and how much of it goes to the Studio.

Out of the cut that goes to the studio, the studio has to then pay the girls, pay the costs of the set, pay any TV transmission fees, pay the cost of studio hire, pay the camera people, pay for makeup.

I wonder do the Studio agree an hourly rate with each model?

The girls on BS get a rate per shift which varies per girl and the type of show it is i.e Daytime rates are lower than nighttime rates. The more money a girl earns for the station the higher she is likely to be able to negotiate her fee. Of course if she wants too high a fee then the station might just let them go elsewhere. If a girl is not bringing in sufficient calls then she won't be retained. It's pure business logic.

Couple of fascinating ideas above (yeah, go figure).

With all of the costs that must be absorbed by the operators, how do they make money? It would be interesting to know, not speculate, how it all breaks out, and what other ventures these operators are into.

When businesses compete on cost alone, they're admitting there is no difference between them. Just like all commodities. Apparently tits are tits and asses are asses. Where do quality of performance or quality of picture enter in the formula. Are they getting more calls? Are the calls lasting longer? Are the cheaper calls generating business in som other areas?

Just sayin'.

A year or two ago one of the babes was prosecuted for benefit fraud by the DSS. The case made the papers and the prosecution claimed that if the babe worked only one night per week, she would earn £24,000 per annum.

If you do the maths, assuming 4 weeks holidays, that works out at £500 per shift. The babe in question regularly works 4 shifts a week even today, so she probably earns £100,000 p.a.

Another babe appeared in a TV show about cosmetic surgery when she was having a nose job. They showed her in her (expensive) car driving to her splendid home in a gated community.

And the conclusion? Successful Babes on the nightshows can earn a great deal of money!

It seems other than the Babestation and xxXpanded channels, all the other channels now have a £2 connection sms charge in place for landline and mobile calls which for me would dissuade me from calling those channels that have a connection sms fee

Part of what certainly Storm does, is offer a cue jumping service for which you pay I believe £1.53 per minute plus a £5 connection sms which if you are desperate to ensure you get to speak to a particularly girl that is the rate you will pay which allows them to look like they are offering cheaper calls when a lot of the time the callers will be queue jumping and paying a "normal" price

True, but don't forget that the successful girls have multiple income streams, from general modelling, magazines, events & promo work, dancing etc at one end of the spectrum through to adultwork/cams, porn and even escorting at the other.

I thought the money the girls earn by appearing on the channels would pale compared to what they make by other avenues - photoshoots for magazines, their websites, fetish clips sales, marketing promotions etc? I can't imagine that any of the channels are exactly rolling in it in these current times.

It's not a criticism but just an observation - I've noticed that Red Light channels have a lot of time where a girl is off a call. I know all the channels have quiet periods but RL daytime seems to have the quietest, from what I've seen anyway. I think if they lowered their prices they might get more callers because already having the combination of fairly interesting themed sets and some of the more well known girls it would work.

Actually, one of the girls told me once that there is no money to be made anymore in glamour modelling. Too much supply, relative to demand. In particular, too many young ladies who believe that glamour modeling is a path to fame and fortune and a footballer husband. So they are virtually doing it for peanuts and bidding down the prices that were once paid to "professional" models. To the extent that they do any photoshoots now, I suspect that it is simply to create content for their own websites (which can't be that lucrative) and/or to raise their profile and thus their earning potential through the babeshows.

Don't the channels make a lot of their income from connection to off screen women?

There's definitely some truth here. Lissa Love recently tweeted about either being offered or paid £163* for a sex scene in an adult film. Now I imagine that will vary from company to company to some degree, but her point was that still photo models get more than that. The issue is that the market is becoming flooded with models who will do a lot (or a lot more), but for very little compensation. Availability of talent goes up, price of talent goes down. Of course, that is porn.

What mrwilliams said about having multiple income streams makes sense, particularly as the telecom providers apparently take a large slice of the cash from the lines. I would say that babechannel TV work alone will barely pay the bills now, hence the massive rise lately of girls going on to Adultwork, many more and some supplementing income with other modelling jobs and some taking up escorting. Maybe 3, 4, or 5 years ago they could make a regular living, but with austerity, inflation, high telco charges, etc, those days are gone.

* How random is £163? Not £160 or £165, but £163 Tongue
