RE: Petition
OK, 100,000 is looking unlikely at the moment, so whats left?

A debate in Parliament isnt the only way to draw attention to public support for adult content and a lack of support for censorship. And large numbers arent impossible. What we have at the moment is a slow burn fuse on a firework. To explode it needs to reach a firework, meaning some popular mass media. Getting shoutouts from the babes would help. Mentions on popular websites help - special thanks to Mauro and MelonFarmers. Celebrity endorsement would be bril. Even better would be for a campaigning newspaper to take up cudgels, but it isnt easy or quick persauding people to take up a cause particularly when the world and his wife are beating on their door. The more people pushing this the more chance their is it will suddenly take off.

In the meanwhile, 350, 400 even a 1000 votes does have more of an impact than you might think. It shows support goes beyond a handful of people - there are 1000s of petitions out there that never get beyond 10 votes - and decision makers with brains know the true level of support is 10 or 100 time higher. Its also important to have much more support than any procensorship petition.

RE: Petition
I agree and I might've said that say 5,000 signs would perhaps prompt an MP to ask a question or two at an annual review meeting of Ofcom or sommat, away from the main chambers of parliament. That kind of influence may actually be more effective in that a full blown debate with alot of eyes on it which might just cement the direction we dont like.

I still think most people dont have very strong views on sexual content in the media, but if asked or prompted would think a phone sexline on tv is not their preference. For example, Jason Manford comes to mind. He used to make references to babestation in his early routines. Everyone laughed, but it still became a scandal when it came to light he was using similar shows and media for sexual fun in hotel rooms on tour. Still not mainstream and maybe never will be.

RE: Petition
I've been reading the following posts, and the thing which concerns me the most is the amount of time we have left if the unthinkable happens and the Babe channels gradually just dwindle away into the sunset.
I no the Epetition which Eccles setup is a great idea and we no we have around 350 signatures, however as we all no time is against us, and as the weeks keep on rolling, so does the Ofcom band wagon.
There needs to be a way to somehow publicly get our message across fast and effectively, the more we can expose Ofcom in the public eye, while fighting our cause then i think things will move quickly. The key for me is publicity, whether it be in newspapers or some other publications, but we need to EXPOSE Ofcom and tell the public sector what Ofcom are doing, infringing on our human rights and how they are bending the rules and in many cases breaking the law.
Only then the heat will be turned on the government to sort this out, and in so doing, start to put the heat on Ofcom.

If only we could get some of those guys who have posted in the babe of the year thread, I haven't seen a lot of those names.

Those, and all the people that post in the 'Today/Tonight I'm Loving' threads. I don't have any objection to the odd post in there - if you see something you love (as I did the other night - nuff said) then why not say so, but the regular posters to that thread are very easily pleased is all I'll say.

Going by the number of complaints (in the babestation section)hopefully there will be a good response.
I have no qualms about giving my real name and adress. If we want this to be taken seriously anybody who signs it should give their correct details.

Now currently we have 359 signatures, this was not the case on the 19th August, yes admitingly 359 it's not what we could have hoped for by now but we have made progress, so to get maybe a couple of thousand by the closing date going by the statistics could still claim us some sort of small victory, it would get noticed, still not enough to make headline news but a couple of thousand would be far from disastrous and is ammunition that you could throw at Ofcom and compare them with the amount of complaints cast in the same period, so despite the fact we're not going to get the desired 100,000 a couple of thousand is still enougn to be seen to be making a stand and it would give Ofcom something to worry about as these figures will be published and it only needs one MP to notice it to get the ball rolling even further.

Complaints over what? The petition?

RE: Petition
Complaints Stan such as the quailty of the output over Babestation which is still pretty much ongoing, some things never change, but like I said I quoted from an old post from the 19th August to more or less to illistrate the progress that has been made from 8 to 359, the rest of the post is really irrelevant and was only intended so that we could guage statistics from back then and now. The complaints were nothing to do with the petition whether it be at present or past. Hopefully this clarifys the intention of the quotation.
