New York City outdoor smoking ban

As a smoker myself if I lived in New York I would be outraged, it's bad enough that you aren't even allowed to light up anymore in a pub but to ban smoking outside this is nothing short of a disgrace, this is exactly what Nazi Germany did in the 30's, your thoughts please.

I am probally your worst enemy,i gave up on 12th Jan 2010,i have saved £1,500 since,and i feel much healthier.

I can see why you would feel as you do,but i think like all new laws after a couple of years it will just be accepted as the norm.

I don't smoke, and really appreciate the ban in pubs, makes my nights out much more enjoyable. But bans outside, that is plainly ridiculous. There is a balance between the health of others and the rights of an individual. If someone is smoking outside, stand upwind of them, not very difficult is it.

These are the same americans that are so concerned by their health that they gorge themselves stupid on fast food and have the highest obesity rate anywhere in the world.

I dont smoke never have done it just never appealed to me but the outdoor smoking ban is just crazy also I never had a problem with people smoking around me its always the ex smokers that that are the worst kind of anti smoking nazis

Lived in NYC for 4 years and go there every couple of months or so.

Also a light smoker and happy to report there are lots of ways around these laws - "Cigar Bars" continue to prosper and are even busier than ever.

So - if you're a smoker and want to visit NYC - fear not: just ask your cabby to take you to a "Cigar Bar" and you can enjoy your favourite tipple - and a fag if you have a mind...

P.S. Cigar Bars do sell cigars if that's your thing - not mine I'm afraid.

Actually, ours isn't much better these days - about 1/4 I believe.
