Sorcerer (1977)

Capture

Directed by William Friedkin and starring Roy Scheider. This is a great movie that fell into obscurity and flopping hard at the box office due to be released at the same time as Star Wars and having a confusing title. Four men from different parts of the world all committed crimes and hiding out in a small town in south america. They're offered offered $10,000 and legal citizenship if they will transport highly volatile nitroglycerin through the jungle to an oil well 200 miles away. One of Friedkin best if not his best imo, the famous scene of the truck crossing the bridge is one of the most suspenseful scenes you're likely to see 9/10

Philomena (2013)

Touching and emotionally charged biographical drama about a woman's attempts to find her long-lost adopted son. Great performance from Judi Dench who was nominated for Best Actress, one of several award credits bestowed upon the film. Steve Coogan delivers a strong supporting role with just the right amount of humour injected in to what is a bit of a tearjerker but nevertheless an entertaining movie.

Thunder Road(2019)

A police officer distracted by his failed marriage and mother's death finds himself on the brink of a breakdown as he continually makes mistakes at work whilst desperately trying to forge a stronger relationship with his daughter. In terms of drama SBD plot there's not much here but director/actor Jim Cummings is a revelation as Officer Arnuad,a man struggling to cope with life's cruelties.

2012

Watched this few years and watching it again it’s worse the second time around. Only good thing about it is the special effects. The storyline is bad, along with the characters who are poorly written on top of which it’s so cliched. The blonde Russian woman nearly gets killed several times only to drown in a nasty way. Danny Glover as President of the United States survives a earthquake, then a monument falls on him and a ton of people his the only survivor only to drown in a tidal wave or John Cusack wife bf serves his purpose then killed odd cliched shit.
