Godzilla (the recent one)

Not exactly a classic Rolleyes Characters were a bit 2 dimensional but the worst thing was much of it was set at night and the big fight scenes weren't all that clear. I don't know if it was an attempt to make it more 'scary' but it doesn't really work with huge monsters in the same way as Pitch Black, for instance.

Creature(1985)

Two rival corperations send scientific research teams to Titan, the largest of Saturn's moons to retrieve a sarcophagus containing the remains of an ancient alien organism. After it's damaging the artifact, the parasitic creature awakens and begins to overtake each member of the teams in horrific fashion.Directed by William Malone, this sort of Star Wars/Alien mix,I say that as it completely rips them both off in story, style and even sound effects is as hammy as they come but quite enjoyable thanks to a decent(ish)looking creature and a nice synth score.

Rosemary's Baby (1968).

Still a masterpiece from Roman Polanski who at the time was in a league of his own as far as filmmaking went. 10/10

Godzilla: King of the Monsters 5/10 - i enjoyed the previous Godzilla so i was really looking forward to this sequel but like most of this years so called blockbuster it turned out to be a real disappointment. When will hollywood learn that a big budget and special effects do not compensate for a lack of story or decent characterisation.

Gentleman's Agreement (1947)

Drama starring Gregory Peck & Dorothy McGuire.
Philip Green is a highly respected writer who is recruited by a national magazine to write a series of articles on anti-Semitism in America. He's not too keen on the series, mostly because he's not sure how to tackle the subject. Then it dawns on him: if he was to pretend to all and sundry that he was Jewish, he could then experience the degree of racism and prejudice that exists and write his story from that perspective. It takes little time for him to experience bigotry. His anger at the way he is treated also affects his relationship with Kathy Lacy, his publisher's niece and the person who suggested the series in the first place.

MA 6/10 - another pretty good low budget horror from Blumhouse productions who seem to specialise in this type of movie. A little bit predictable but still quite enjoyable.

Avatar - 8/10. Thought I'd give it another watch seeing as they've been showing it on Sky, it doesn't feel 10 years old.

Tyrannosaur (2011)

A brutal depiction of domestic violence, anti-social rage and child abuse in a British community. The film boasts brilliant performances from Olivia Colman and Peter Mullan in the lead roles in what is an unflinchingly savage and upsetting drama. Very mature themes and probably not for the faint of heart. Watch if you dare. 3.5 / 5
