To Sleep with Anger(1990)

A melodrama from Charles Burnett about an African American family in LA that invite a friend into their home only to discover he is completely untrustworthy.Whilst riffing on faith, tradition and responsibilities it ignored the usual trademarks of black cinema at the time(gang violence and racial tensions)and was/is a landmark in expanding portrayals of the African American experience. With superb performances all round, especially Danny Glover.

Two more shorts from IGN for the 40th anniversary of Alien(1979).

Alone(2019)

A pretty interesting story revolving around a dying "artificial person" seemingly alone on a vessel. Some nice music cues to Jerry Goldsmith's original score(well, what Ridley Scott used of it)and a nice little turn from Bill Paxton's son,James.

7.5/10

Harvest(2019)

The most frenetic paced of the shorts so far,I wasn't keen on the millennial action/horror style editing but overall it was quite frightening and the ending is a heartbreaker.

The Running Man (1987)

In a futuristic totalitarian USA, framed cop Arnold Schwarzenegger is forced to fight for survival in a sadistic game show. The late Richard Dawson is particularly good as the suitably antagonistic host and there's plenty of thrills and spills to keep action junkies happy. The jokes are cheesy but the satire helps to create some very memorable kill scenes. Essentially and visibly 80s, but always worth a watch. Maria Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto, Fleetwood Mac co-founder Mick Fleetwood and pro wrestling legend Jesse Ventura are all among the supporting cast. 3.5 / 5

Avengers Endgame

So this on Tuesday and thankfully no toilet breaks which was easy being diabetic and a run time over three hours. First of all wanna say I enjoyed the movie and fitting with the hard work Marvel have put into the MCU some films I loved, Some I thought were average and some not so great but credit for them to pulling this off and closing one era and starting another.
It picks up from the events of the previous movie and with trying to come up a plan with fixing everything which obviously they will by the end of the movie. I did have to issues with the movie one being a particular subject they use to fix everything this causes a lot of plot holes which I can’t spoil and that took me out of a little especially when it happened a lot and there no consequences for the stuff that happened it felt like when it kept happening it was being brushed under the carpet. I wanna see consequences and problems and the price you have to pay for not always getting something right again it’s hard to explain without giving things away. The second issue for is I felt it was too long the two hours is a little slow in places so if you need a toilet break go then but the last hour for me is where the film really shines with it’s epic battle and sacrifices which leave the MCU never being the same again blood and tears come to mind so by the end it was heart felt conclusion and a end of era. Do I think it’s s masterpiece as some are saying no does it tick all the boxes yes, enjoyable movie, money well spent, feeling good after seeing it, being entertained and feeling my time invested was worth it. It did all of that well done Marvel and to all the actors and crew involved over the years. It does have a lot Parallels with Back To The Future & even Back To The Future Part II all tho that executed things better in terms of consequences.

RE: Last film you watched
Finally got round to seeing Avengers: Infinity War(2018) recorded Christmas Day on SKY Premiere. I have to say I was not expecting a lot of what went on. Some of it was confusing because it relied on you remembering what happened in the last film but after that the action never let up and a lot of characters didn't make to the second reel. Visually stunning to look at and a few light-hearted moments, but by the end I was still in the dark as to what was happening. The final scene was odd-Thanos lived but everyone else was disappearing into ash, and then at the end Nick Fury appears very briefly before he and Hall also are reduced to ash??!! Not sure what was going on there but presumably the last film might clear things up? Will have to wait until SKY shows it now, but I think judging by what people have said, it will be worth waiting for. Liked seeing Stan Lee as the bus driver "what you've never seen an alien spaceship before?" Big Grin

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile 7/10. (Acting 8, Film 6).

Nothing wrong with the acting, everyone did a good job, particularly Zac and Lily, but I just felt that there wasn't enough of him being what he was revealed to be, which was a monster. I get that her perspective was the focus, and that it was about him being this charmer type that had many fooled despite the evidence, but if he had been still doing that, with the audience getting to see the evil along the way, rather than him just being in and around the locations at the time, it would have worked better and would have actually been shocking.
Worth a look if you're interested, but it's probably worth watching the documentary first, if like me, you don't know much about him.

Harry Potter And The Order of The Phoenix

Wow this film was way dark tone especially compared to the first film. As the films have gone along they’ve got dark and dark lol.
