RE: Last film you watched
Deadpool 2 (2018);

What with working long & awkward hours & catching up with various Netflix series has left me with little time to catch up on films & my backlog of DVD's to watch is growing at an alarming rate.I did manage to sneak in the sequal to the smash hit Deadpool that see's Ryan Reynolds once again reprise his role superbly as Wade Wilson/Deadpool 'The Merc with the Mouth' with plenty of hilarious one-liners & gore dished out in equal measures.Of all the Marvel characters to choose from Ryan Reynolds brilliantly demonstrates that Deadpool must be the most fun to play with the ability to turn horror into a comedy art-form by enticing swathes of bad guys with witty one-liners & put-downs before brutally dispatching them & with his constant interaction with the audience (us) via the '4th Wall'.This sequal see's Deadpool as an even more tortured soul than ever after witnessing the death of his partner Vanessa (played by the lovely Morena Baccarin). But no matter how many times he tries 'to end it' (he tries numerous inventive ways) seeing that 'Regeneration/self-healing' is one of Deadpool's special abilities suicide is never really going to be a realistic option for him.But having such a 'special ability' does have it's upsides by letting him contort & utilize body parts in inventive ways to kill the opposition.

Whilst at a low ebb Deadpool stumbles across a troubled teenager Russell (Firefist) who possesses devastating mutant powers & whilst offering a sympathetic hand to the youngster it only leads to Deadpool getting caught in the cross-fire of time-travelling part-man part-machine & bonafide badass Cable (played by Josh Brolin). Cable is sent from the future to eradicate Russell who is responsible for the death of Cable's family in the future.

Deadpool is such a multi-faceted character merely restricting him in to a PG/12 Marvel Universe setting was never going to be logical & so with with more adult-themed scenario in turn gives the Deadpool franchise an opportunity to dare to tread where other Marvel/DC films don't.With the constant mocking of fellow characters, other films, use of crude jokes & one-liners with bucket loads of gore thrown together for good measure. There are a multitude of funny quips & scenes but among my favourites was when in a fight between Juggernaut & Colossus, Juggernaut turns to his foe & says "I'm going to melt you down & turn you into a cock-ring!".Another classic was whilst Deadpool was in recovery during the 'regeneration phase' after being ripped in half by Juggernaut had grown a pair of toddler legs.Whilst being questioned by Cable Deadpool pulls off the Sharon Stone Basic Instinct moment (flashing whilst crossing the legs scene).

Overall;Brilliant sequal 9/10.

Alien : Containment(2018)

One of several short films released to mark the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott's classic. It crams more suspense and terror into its just under ten minutes of running time than any of the efforts following James Cameron's sequel.Well worth a look.

Agreed.
Makes it all the more obvious how crap Prometheus and Covenant were.
Wish Neil Blomkamp's vision for Alien 5 had got made.

Self/Less

Starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley, great story and great twist and a nasty death scene made me very happy lol.

Hellboy (2019)

Really fun, enjoyable, very violent, bloody & gory comicbook film that reboots the Hellboy franchise very well.

There is a scene partway through the credits that sets up a sequel

8/10

Lords of Chaos(2019)

Directed by filmaker and former Bathory drummer Jonas Åkerlund, this late 80s/early 90s set effort is an eye opening, upsetting and cautionary tale regarding the tragic beginnings of Norwegian black metal.Shot like a grainy video nasty whilst juxtaposing strange dream sequences against stark reality faced by the band Mayhem,as they look for a new vocalist. With superb performances from Rory Culkin,Emory Cohen,Sky Ferreria and Jack Kilmer.

Part of the SKY Movies BATMAN season: BATMAN Unlimited: Monster Mayhem where Batman, Red Robin, Nightwing and Green Arrow team up to try and stop the machinations of The Joker, Banshee, Scarecrow, Grundy and Clayface. It was rated 12 so kids could watch with their parents but some scenes would have been pretty scary. Unlike in previous films the voice of the Joker was done by Troy Baker, whereas before Mark(Luke Skywalker) Hamill had done him several times. Worth keeping an eye out for if it is repeated.

Aquaman - 8/10.

So much better than I thought it'd be. I like Jason Momoa, have done since Stargate Atlantis, I've always thought Amber Heard was just okay, but she was good in this. Story wise, no problems with it, visually, very nice. I look forward to the sequel.
