The Bag Man (2014)

John Cusack and Robert Deniro.

Quite good despite it feeling like a direct to video movie in terms of budget! Reminded me of a darker version of Grosse Pointe Blank in terms of some of the style and tone.

AKA Lara Croft

The Voice of Merrill(1952)

An author that is dying frames a popular radio narrator for the death of his secretary. John Gilling's crime drama is pedestrian at times but the clever dialogue as the plot unfolds and the good performances from James Robertson Justice,Valerie Hobson and Sam Kydd make it worth seeing out.

7/10

Spiderman: Homecoming - 7.5/10 better than the last two but Spiderman 2 from the original trilogy is still king.

The Hatton garden job (2017)

Based on the true story of the Hatton garden jewellery robbery of 2015, starring Larry Lamb & Phil Daniels.

Antonio enjoyable film but a little short in my opinion, not enough time to fully get to know the characters, what happened to them after the raid is glossed over as well.

8/10

X-Men Apocalypse (2016);

Marvel film starts off in early Egypt 3600BCE where the first & most powerful mutant (through absorbing other mutants powers making him almost indestructible) Apocalypse although being worshipped by thousands is involved in a power struggle & is entombed & locked away for thousands of years.
Fast forward to 1983 where during a disaster Apocalypse is awoken from his slumber & when he see's what the world has become in his absence he is pissed. He recruits a small band of mutants including Magneto (Michael Fassbender) with the premise on wiping out humanity so that mutants can thrive.
Step forward the X-Men lead by Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) & his band of young looking X-Men including Beast (Nicholas Hoult),Quicksilver (Evan Peters),Jean Grey (played by the lovely Sophie Turner) etc & Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with their mission in stopping a near invincible enemy in Apocalypse.

Overall this a pretty good film with great special effects & a stellar cast with Evan Peters as Quicksilver stealing the show in a few scenes with his freeze time abilities particularly one of which with Eurythmics song Sweet Dreams playing in the background. There is also an early focus on Jean Grey's slow & eventual incarnation into Phoenix played out in few dream like moments.6.5/10.

Star Trek Beyond(2016) The latest in the franchise sees Idris Elba as alien Krall intent on using an ancient artifact to destroy a Federation starbase. It is very action packed pretty much from the word go and the script(co-written by Simon Pegg) has its usual share of observations and funny lines. This compensates for a couple of cliches and predictabilities along the way. Elba is a strong villain and Sofia Boutella makes a good, funny impression as a friendly alien. Also starring Joe Taslim,Lydia Wilson,Melissa Roxburgh, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Greg Grunberg. 7.5/10

Fight Club (1999)

The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club. Just watch it - everyone should see this. It's another brilliant exercise in mindbending, anti-establishment film-making from thriller master David Fincher. Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter and Meat Loaf star. Big Grin 5/5

Conan The Barbarian (2011)

Better then I expected, good action and gory. Still think it lacks the magic of original but other then that I enjoyed.

7/10.
