Quest For Love(1971)

Tom Bell puts in a excellent performance as a scientist who wakes up to find at first, subtle differences in his everyday life.Soon coming to the conclusion that he is a playwright in an alternative reality. Also featuring good work from Denholm Elliot and Joan Collins.

Almost Famous(2000) Its 1973, and a fifteen year old journalist(a wonderful performance from Patrick Fugit) is employed by Rolling Stone magazine to follow rock band Stillwater on their tour. A nicely judged mixture of comedy and coming of age drama with believable characters and some very good performances, maybe Kate Hudson's best as groupie Penny Lane, with Billy Crudup good as a Stillwater band member and the ever reliable Frances McDormand who is spot on as Fugit's mother. There's also good cameo from Zooey Deschanel as Fugit's sister. I liked the music too. Also starring Michael Angarano,Anna Paquin,Fairuza Balk, Noah Taylor, Philip Seymour Hoffman & Terry Chen. 7.5/10

The Hunger(1983)

A stylish vampire thriller from the late Tony Scott starring Susan Sarandon in great form as a blood specialist falling for a seductive vampire played by Catherine Deneuve, who is the prowl for a new lover after the death of her husband John(David Bowie),who succumbed to the ravages of time in a single day.The second half of the film is a bit messy but thanks to some iconic imagery from Scott and wonderful performances(Bowie's in particular is even more poignant because of his recent passing)The Hunger is still a rich, layered and compelling piece of both cinema.

Julia's Eyes(2010) A woman who has a degenerative eye disease investigates the apparent suicide of her blind twin sister. A Spanish thriller with some implausibilities and cliches(why is it so often raining and/or lightning in these films?) but with striking cinematography and inventive camerawork and some clever visual tricks. There is also a very strong , plausible lead performance from Belen Rueda, who plays both twins. Also starring Lluis Homar,Pablo Derqui,Francesc Orella,Julia Gutierrez Caba and Daniel Grao. 7/10

A Man Called Sledge (1970)

James Garner stars in this spaghetti western adventure, as a ruthless outlaw who leads his gang of thieves in search of a fortune in gold. Also featuring Dennis Weaver, Claude Akins, John Marley and Wayde Preston. A Man Called Sledge was directed and co-written by actor Vic Morrow.

As Financial Domination continues to grow, less enthusiasm is required when putting on a show.

London Has Fallen 6.5/10 - over the top action movie with a very far fetched plot, but quite enjoyable if you like watching Gerard Butler almost single handedly wiping out a terrorist army.

Rush (2013)

Decent film about the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

The highlight though is seeing Natalie Dormer's tits as she gets fucked in a shower. I love Natalie Dormer and I love her tits.

The Hustler (1961)

Paul Newman is the eponymous hero striving to become the best he can be in this screen adaptation of Walter Tevis' novel. He stars as "Fast" Eddie Felson, a pool chancer relentlessly pursuing his dreams of stardom by repeatedly challenging the sport's best player. It's so much more than a sports movie, it's a drama about what it takes to be human as Newman's character battles against risk and morality whilst seeking the opportunity of fame. I thought it was enjoyable without being pure entertainment - there are some difficult moments. Despite a few flaws though, you can see why it's become a cult favourite. George C Scott, Piper Laurie and Jackie Gleason also star. 3/5

Get Out (2017)

I thought I'd give this a watch after hearing good things about it, and I'm glad I did. Weird, creepy & very tense are the best words I can think of to describe this.
A girl brings her black boyfriend to her parents' secluded house & notices some strange goings on with 'the help' and friends of the family with how they act & take an over the top liking to him.
Things get real tense once he realises what's going on.
It also has some genuinely funny moments, too, which is hard to do in a film like this, so credit to the film makers for pulling it off.
Some very good acting is the cherry on top of the cake. Well worth checking out.
