The Transporter Refueled

Was a decent film personally I still prefer the original for films. What a did like was the action still pieces the story was nothing to write home about I did feel the story feel apart a little at the end. Overall a enjoyable film.

6.8/10

Schindler's List(1993) The Steven Spielberg directed film with Liam Neeson as Schindler the Czech/German industrialist who saved over a thousand Polish Jews employed in his factory, works so well because it is able to capture the individual stories of the Jewish characters, and also because of the acting, especially Neeson who plays a complex character who mixes with the Nazi hierarchy and indeed, was a Nazi member, who employed Jews because they were cheaper, but couldn't stomach the atrocities that were happening, and Ralph Fiennes was the German commandant who enjoyed the sadistic power he had over people. There's also a good turn from Ben Kingsley. As you'd expect from Spielberg, there are several shocking and/or emotional scenes. Also starring Caroline Goodall,Jonathan Sagall & Embeth Davidtz. 7.5/10

Minotaur,the Wild Beast of Crete(1960)

The very beautiful Rosanna Schiaffino finds herself in the clutches of a pretty impressive looking Minotaur in Silvio Amadio's enjoyable,Italian swords and sandals effort.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I know a lot of people hate but I quite enjoy it mainly because of Hugh Jackman but it's not with out its fault, his origin story changed abs toned down, the special effects in places are dodgy and as for Wade Wilson aka Deadpool oh dear.

6.9/10.

Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines (2003)

Not a good entry in the Terminator franchise if I'm honest. The performances by the actors seem weak compared to those delivered in this film's excellent two predecessors. There's some impressive action sequences (the car chase involving the crane for one) but despite that, I always find that this film makes it difficult to get in to the franchise. The continuity of the series suffers because of the over-done jokes and clunky plot line. I feel this is the Terminator film that unfortunately set the franchise on a downward spiral. 2/5

Aladdin (1992)

My favourite Disney film, and one of my favourites in general, due, in part, to Robin Williams being hilarious as Genie; with his TV/movie references (set in Arabian times makes them even funnier). Great animation, and music too.

Action Jackson 6/10 - despite this being a typical 80s action movie it has a surprisingly strong supporting cast to back up the main man Carl Weathers, including Sharon Stone, Craig T Nelson, Bill Duke and Robert Davi. This was a huge renter when i had my video shop especially with the teenagers, probably due to the aforementioned Miss Stone and Prince protege Vanity getting their tits out. Despite the predictable plot and cheesy one-liners its still quite entertaining.

Found the blu ray version in a charity shop for £1.99, another great bargain.

All Quiet On The Western Front(1979) The experiences of a young German soldier (Richard Thomas) and his colleagues, mostly in the trenches of World War One. A remake of a 1930 film, this made for TV version captures the change of the young recruits attitude from optimism and arrogance to disillusionment and fear, initially by moving between the pre war and war time periods and also by the change in tone of Thomas' articulate narration. Thomas puts in a sympathetic performance, skilfully changing to a battle hardened, questioning character. There is good support from Ernest Borgnine(suitably cast as veteran), Ian Holm, Dai Bradley, Donald Pleasance & Patricia Neal. The battle scenes, though not gory, because of its TV movie status, are realistic in action, noise and aftermath. Also starring Michael Sheard & Dominic Jephcott. 7/10

End of the Line(1957)

Alan Baxter puts in a good performance as Mike,a theif who is given a fake alibi to cover him when he robs a known fence of some already stolen jewels.Later the fence is found dead and Mike is blackmailed.A twisty crime drama with smart dialogue from director Charles Saunders.

7/10

The Last Exorcism (2010) Patrick Fabian plays a sceptical preacher who agrees to have an exorcism covered by a documentary, but is this one for real? A mostly dreary and non scary horror film using a hand held camera as its gimmick, and not much beyond that. Ashley Bell puts in a good performance as the victim. Also starring Iris Bahr,Louis Hertham & Caleb Landry Jones. 4.5/10
