Something Wicked This Way Comes(1983)

An underated effort from the great director Jack Clayton. With Pam Grier in superb form as the enigmatic Dust Witch,an important member of Mr.Dark's sinister carnival. Despite a slightly pretentious title this film is wonderoffully lit and has just the right blend of tension, scares and blood to make it work very well.

Ferry To Hong Kong(1958)

A sea captain faces a dilemma when he is forced to accept a Hong Kong deportee onto his vessel which causes extreme suspicion amongst his crew and passengers.Lewis Gilbert's film contains dialouge and an attitude that are dated now in terms of the language used, however the distrust echoes today's current climate of propaganda and terrorist activities.Orson Welles is excellent and is supported strongly by Sylvia Simms,Curt Jugens and Jeremy Spencer.

Foul Play (1978) 7/10 - perfect for an easy afternoons viewing, this is a great little movie starring a funny Chevy Chase, scene stealing Dudley Moore and braless Goldie Hawn. Almost Perfect.

I had forgotten just what a babe Goldie was back in the day.

Bell,Book and Candle(1958)

A Richard Quine comedy based on the successful Broadway play by John Van Druten.Starring the beautiful Kim Novak as a young witch who falls in love with the more mature James Stewart.Co-starring Jack Lemon and Ernie Kovacs who are both excellent but its Hermione Gingold as another witch named Bianca de Passe that often steals every scene she is in.

The Warrior(2001) In feudal Rajasthan,India a warrior(Irrfan Khan) is disenchanted with his lord's murderous reign, which he has actively participated in, and goes on the run, pursued by his ex fellow warriors. A slow film , but with several powerful scenes, and a realistic, complex performance by Khan. It is also a glimpse into a hard often cruel society. Also starring Puru Chibber, Anupam Shyam,Damayanti Marfatia & Noor Mani. 7/10
