Home Sweet Home(1945)

A comedy drama starring legendary northern comic Frank Randle as a man who puts up with all the abuse his girlfriend's disapproving parents give him day in,day out.Well acted with some very funny dialogue.

Return To The 36th Chamber(1980) A sequel of sorts to the impressive The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin in which Chia-Hui Liu plays an actor who aims to learn kung fu skills at the Shaolin temple to help his friends who are suffering at the hands of a tyrannical Manchu boss at their factory. A film with good kung fu fight sequences, but let down by the comedy element. Also starring Lung Wei Wang & King Chu Lee. 5.5/10

The Stepfather(1987)

Terry O'Quinn is absolutely chilling in the title role of this bloodcurdling version of a story from Donald E.Westlake, who also made contributions to the screenplay. So good it spawned two sequels and a remake, none of which match this version from director Joseph Ruben.

Bluebeard's Ten Honeymoons(1960)

George Sanders plays it droll as the very dangerous Henri Landru in this black comedy from W.Lee Wilder.Although they used the more famous name in the title,Henri Landry was a real serial killer found guilty of 11 murders and excutred via the guillotine in 1922.Landry was also the inspiration for Chaplin's Monsieur Verdoux(1947).

xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage

The third film in the xXx franchise and just like the previous 2, it is a very good fun action film that doesn't take itself seriously and you just sit back and enjoy one ott action sequence after the other.

Vin Diesel is very good as Xander Cage and the rest of the cast are also very good with the stand outs for me being Ruby Rose, Deepika Padione & Donnie Yen along with a brill cameo right at the end

8/10

What Doesn't Kill You(2008) The true story of two small time crooks(Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo) in South Boston, who want to go independent, but this has far reaching consequences. A fairly familiar tale, but it is handled in a realistic way, especially with the effect on the families. There is good acting from Hawke, but especially from the ever excellent Ruffalo and Amanda Peet, as his long suffering wife. Good use of Boston locations, too. Also starring Brian Goodman(who directed), Will Lyman, Donnie Wahlberg & Edward Lynch. 7/10

An atmospheric and brilliantly shot horror film from Victor M.Grover.After participating successfully in a duel,a young captain becomes the prime suspect in a string of murders that took place near the spooky backdrop of Epping Forest.Starring regulars of the genre,Todd Slaughter and Bruce Seton whom both put in very good performances.

xXx, it's pretty clear they were trying to be like the Bond films but just with more explosion's and none of style of Bond, but still enjoyable 6.5/10.

Mine Own Executioner(1947)

Burgess Meredith is utterly brilliant as a psychiatrist whose skill as a doctor is pushed to the limit when treating a former POW.All the while, struggling to justify his shoddy treatment of his own wife and the temptation of infidelity. An amazing drama from director Anthony Kimmins based on the novel by Nigel Belchin, who also wrote the screenplay.
